Wrong forum but could not find the HiLux forum. Anyone besides me remember this?
I had not thought of this in lots of years till something said about not easy to make 4x4 conversion on a post today.
War story: in the 70's we used to send HiLux's to Wolverine in South Texas to have them converted into 4x4's. Sold a bunch as that was the only way to get a Toyota PU 4x4 in those days. I think they also would do duals on rear for 2wd as well. Long time ago.

Basically it was a pre-4runner before Toyota introduced 4wd into the pickup lineup.

This from very foggy memory. As I recall we sold the truck for about $1500. in 2wd in 69 when I started. The early 70's it went up but not wild yet. For some reason $2500 or so for the conversion sounds about right. But that price would be like the same price for a loaded Olds 98 then as well ( same store). Way more than our GMCs.
