So I will start off by saying hey! I just joined the forum, and have read a lot of good info, everyone seems really cool! With that being said, I was wondering if there is anyone out there in the tucson area willing to help a fellow taco owner install an aftermarket radio. I got all the old stuff out, but cannot for the life of me figure out the new one. I am willing to pay someone if they would help me out!!

Welcome to TW! If someone doesn't reply from the Tucson area, maybe a Phoenix guy can lend a hand.

I am on the other coast but it would help to know what year model truck and what radio , single din , double din ? I have replaced several stereos if your not going beyond a simple swap . You need the adapter for your head unit to the stock wiring It is usually plug and play. Some better shops have one that plugs into your unit and then directly into the stock wiring. If you have bare wires from your new head unit you will still need an adapter to go to stock wire harness but the other end will have bare wires. The adapter will have the color code to match to your new head unit. The new face place will again depend on your unit double or single din but they have instructions which are pretty easy to follow. As for steering wheel control connections you may need a separate piece to make that connection. Crutchfield can tell you if you put in your vehicle and your radio or even Best Buy or a local shop will tell you. Best I can do being this far away and not knowing what your working with.

I agree with the above post from Cypherian.
The #1 tip I can give you is that most radios now come with a short wiring harness with a plastic factory plug/jack attached to the end of the harness. If you go to the Specialists on Speedway with your new and old radio, they will sell you and wiring harness adapter that will take all the guess work out of your project. You just plug the adapter into the new radio and the other end of the adapter goes into the factory plug/jack in the dash where the old radio plugged into the wiring that goes to your speakers and amp. Quick & easy. Saves you alot of time & money.
If this is not the case with your radio, let me know. I've own (6) Toyota 4x4's since 1979 and have done all my own radio/stereo upgrades. I am a retired electrician by trade and I can help you or walk you thru the installation. What side of Tucson do you live on?
