I would agree, if the battery cable was disconnected and you could actually see the voltage dropping as you were reading the meter, that indecates a shorted cell in the battery. As said ealier, a load test on the battery wll tell you immediately if the battery is bad.

10.7 volts, there are 6 cells at 2+ volts each. You have a bad cell, thats why you only see 10+ volts.

Ok sweet, we don't have Auto Zones in Hawaii lol. I'll try and see if I can find a place to load test the battery.

Just about any chain of auto parts stores can do this.

One last question, if I had a true short or parasitic drain would it drain the battery down to below 10v? I haven't seen it go less than 10v. Just out of curiosity thanks again.

Even a low charged battery will register 12v at rest. So, no a parasitic draw does not lower it much below 12v.

Just get the battery replaced. If it's discharged over night or you see it discharging right in front of you, get it replaced. There isn't a whole lot to figure out. Once you replace it, you're gonna be ok. Body shop probably had something on and killed the battery so I bet it has a dead cell or two.h

Thanks for that link,DD. I've been looking for that for some time.

I got a nephew that has been wanting to learn about cars so he can do his own repairs. I'm forwarding him this for homework:)

They often kill the battery at the body shop and it stays dead for a while. Probably ruined your battery.

Hey guys thought I'd update you. The body shop never got back to me, they're ignoring me so I'm going to ignore them when they try to collect their payment. Anyways I took it to Sears because the stealership said I would have to leave it there with no eta since it would be on standby only. I said fuck this shit and went to Sears. They tested the battery and it was bad. They replaced it with a 3-year warranty DieHard battery and she's good as new. Thanks again for all the help!

Coldest is high 50s which only last for a day or two it's never consistent. It's usually around 80-90 degrees day in and day out.

I've got a 2013 DCLB that just went in for the lift and lockers, it's got 6k km on it, the only work that had been done to it prior to the lift was toyota dealer installation of my supercharger. Well the battery dies while on the hoist when getting the lift installed. The shop showed me the issue. As shown in the picture the battery hold down had been SEVERELY over tightened by the dealer when installing the supercharger. I've since got the pelfrybilt battery box and the dealer is replacing the battery free of charge... Basically them over-tightening it caused the top cell to collapse...
