    So I went up to Vancouver BC and picked up that 3rd member from the wrecked Taco. Seemed to be in great condition (thanks Ben) plus I got to spend an evening meeting up with some family:

    Came home and had the truck towed home. Took a look at the exploded part of the ring gear:

    Aside from the recent damage, wear patterns were excellent. +1 for Amsoil Severe Gear oil. There are a few gouges in the back of the axle housing but nothing that is about to puncture open and the housing is not deformed in any way. Based on some other threads I've read, I don't think it's a concern. It's probably a large part of why the dealer said it would cost $4200 to fix.

    The truck is chocked and on jack stands, wheels removed. I've prepped the mating surface on the 3rd member and the axle housing. I'm about to move some brake lines, pull axles and try to install the son of a bitch. Oh yeah I'm going to give the inside of the housing one more inspection as well.

    Came up here to double-check the installation thread and thought I'd give an update
