BUG. firearm. what are your opinions

A back up gun does anyone carry one. Is it a good idea or not. I have been kicking around the idea to carry around a backup gun just in case. The idea for me is just in case something should happen that my primary gun gets a jam I can't clear in a situation or if someone somehow grabs the gun off of me. I figured it would be nice to have a BUG firearm.
What r ur guys thought

 

I find it tough enough to confidently, discreetly and comfortably carry my LC9. If you lived in a gnarly hood I definitely think it would be a good idea. I'd think a .380 in an ankle rig would be a good option.

 

And that's kinda the idea is like a 380. Was looking at the new colt mustang xsp. Its the light weight polymer frame model

 

New Glock 42 is awesome. Bought 2.

I think it's fairly pointless to have a BUG unless you're involved in work that has highrisk.

Think of it this way......

If you're in a life threatening situation that you NEED to get your primary gun out to save your life...... and it jams..... Will you still be alive and/or able to get the secondary gun out?? Maybe.....?? If you're lucky.

If it makes you feel more secure.....

 

Two is one & one is none. My primary is a G19 in the winter months & then an XDs or Shield in the summer months. BUG is an LCP in the front right pocket 24/7/365. The new G42 is a cool gun but damn near the size/weight of a 9mm XDs or Shield but it's only .380 so what's the point? As a self professed Glock fanboi I can't find an excuse to carry one for SD. When they make it in 9mm I'll get excited.

I never understood those who think there are certain 'areas' you need a firearm in & yet two people have already said just that in this thread. You think a church is safe? What about an elementary school? Gym?

If 7 rounds isn't going to solve my problem, another 5 isn't either.
I also find that doublestack carriers are more likely to think BUG is going to somehow solve their problem.
If you really need a contingency, carry a tactical flashlight.
You are more likely to disable your threat with blindness than your BUG.

A good tactical light with the crenellated strike bezel, good point! I carry an Armytek predator X, $120, 650 lumens to quickly disorient your enemy, then go on the offensive and start striking the temple and other soft sensitive areas of the head and body!

 

I said it was fairly pointless to have a back up carry unless you have a high risk. I didnt say carring was pointless. To each there own.
If you think you need it, great, then do it. I just think its pointless. If one would run a risk assesment instead of living completely paranoid. Or maybe they want to feel cool by carring a second firearm then more power to them.
Im not really into carring that much shit on me. I have enough shit to carry around as is, keys wallet, whatever. For my own risk assesment i dont need a backup except while im in the sandbox, and thats really just to be able to protect my patients. Maybe your risk assesment dictates that you should. It's your right to do so.

I enter houses on a daily basis with work. Some clowns on here and other forums are quick to discount a .380 (or anything other than 9mm/.40/.45) but we've seen more people paralized and killed from small caliber weapons than large calibers. For some reason caliber size always turns onto a dick measuring contest and the .45ACP crowd always thinks they are better. it's funny how some people read a few tactical magazines and watch some ballistic gel videos on YouTube and become God's gift to the shooting community.

 

This is the opinions that make me think whether to carry a bug or not. I do agree with ostrichsak about false sense of security by why u live.
Just because someone doesn't live in the middle of Philly or on 8 mile which is bad territory. Doesn't mean something can not happen

My gun is a 45 caliber yes. But I am not one of those people that think like those idiots.
I've seen so many people say that 380 and lower calibers are pointless. And that is sooooo wrong.

 

Needing to use your primary weapon falls somewhere between getting hit by a random car and getting struck by lightning.

Needing to use a BUG if you're not LEO or military falls somewhere between getting struck by lightning...twice...and winning the powerball.
