Headlights, not so much. LED bar, YES! Pics of it installed in the daytime?

I just don't see much difference in low and high beams with the LEDs. Kinda like not having high beams any more. The color is nice but I use my high beams on occassion and the Philips Xtremevision H4s have good lighting, just plain white compared to LED or HID. Kinda on the fence about staying with the LEDs now. May be a bargain to be had for someone in the FS section at some point...............

In my truly honest opinion, stay with halogen bulbs. Of if you have the time and spare cash, do a retrofit. I did and I couldn't see myself getting anything else than another set of projectors to retrofit for someone. The hi/lo beam doesn't look too different, just spread out more. Maybe I'm biased towards my lights, but I personally wouldn't keep the LED bulbs in.

Well for that money, you could've had a pair of Mini H1's delivered to your door. Obviously you'd still need a wiring harness, bulbs, and a ballast. Ah...that's what eBay is for. So total about $180-$200 and you've got yourself a retrofit. Whereas you got 2 LED bulbs...for $150...Hmmmm

I find that the low beams have nice spread but not enough beam out away from truck without maxxing out the adjusters way too high and still not the down the road beam the Xtremevisions are putting out. I have HID fogs pointed down for nice spread out to 20 yards or so and the halogen lows are out past that. Also have HID yellow Hella 500s for foggy or offroad extra lighting on top of that. The halogen highs are crazy bright compared to the LEDs. I have been adjusting on the road not just at a wall and the most useful non-offensive setup for me and others is the Philips halogens vs. the LEDs. Don't get me wrong, I like the LED lighting but I feel like I'm driving my truck using my bicycle lighting. I have sets of 1800 lumen bike lights and they are as bright as the LEDs in the truck and they are stellar for the bike, just not quite what I want for the truck tho. That being said, check the FS section for an LED bargain coming soon for fresh set of LEDs with about 2 hrs use on them.................

For a while when I had HID's in the reflector bowls, I switched back to halogens because I wanted a high beam feature. I had Silverstars, the one with the red and gold packaging. They were nice, white, and bright. AND I had a high beam. Then I switched back to h=HID's because I couldn't stand the light output of halogens.

I guess saving up for a retrofit is still the main plan. I do feel this technology will catch up soon enough though.

I hear you, BUT for some reason..I still like the output and the beam from a projector. I've pulled up next to the new Audi's with LED headlights......PURPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND the cutoff isn't that great...BMW, purple. The technology is there, some tweaking is required though.

I mean when you are retrofitting an output source like a headlight into an optic that was designed for halogen, I can see why LED's under perform. And I think the whole purple thing is the car companies giving people what they think they want. I've always wanted a pure white/slightly blue look to my lights but when i finally got that in my HID converted Hella 700ff's I realize that I really want pure white more than blue.

I think the biggest thing that drives me nuts now is that my front spots, my led corners and my headlights are all different colors of light.

That's my problem as well. My corners are "amber" and my headlights are white. My dad said from far away, at the cutoff, my headlights look purple-ish. I see why those ricers want purple headlights. What they don't understand is the optics of a projector lens. I have a set of Hella 500's I just converted to HID yesterday, 4300K bulbs. Best decision of my life. Oh, they're up for sale by the way. I really considered investing in some LED bulbs for my headlights...but something kept telling me not to. Somehow I knew they wouldn't perform as I think they would.

For these to perform as good as halogens, I believe the housing will need to be designed to throw the beam further much like the projector does.

Reflector housings were designed specifically by automakers for halogen bulbs. Measurements down to fractions of millimeters for maximum light output from ONE type of bulb, halogen.

Well, not necessarily technical, but there should only be one type of bulb in a reflector housing; halogen. Unless i your car/truck/van is high end and the manufacturer produces headlights specifically designed for HIDs, such as Lexus, Toyota, Infiniti.

The problem isn't output, it's the patter of light given off. LED's produce a sharp direct light, whereas halogens "fill" out better utilizing every reflector in the housing to point the beam of light downwards at the ground.
