I found out today from talking to TRD the s/c has finally been officially released for my 2014 DCSB! I also asked the guy I was talking to at TRD what their recomended install time is but he didn't know and said he would try to find out and get back to me. I'm going to call a few stealerships but I'd like to know what the install time should be for a dealership so when they try to pad their bill I can call them on it. I did some googling but found a wide range from 6-14 hours. Does anyone have any experience getting the s/c installed last year on your 13 Tacoma? If so how long did it take? Any other info you have with personal experience getting the s/c installed is really appreciated. Thanks.

My local dealership initially quoted me:

    S/c + fit kit: $5100
10.5 hrs labor : $1050 - $100/hr for master mechanic with experience, vs the normal $75/hr labor rate

I told them that I found it online for $4290 w/ free shipping from (not sure if its ok to put the online place in here, its mentioned in alot of threads here as a reputable parts source).

My dealership said they would match that price.

I called TRD again, they said unofficially it is a 6-7 hr install, more with dealerships that don't do alot of s/c installs, so im ok with 10.5 hrs.

I spent $6000 for the S/C, CAI and exhaust installed... but this was back in '11

They took two days as they had the exhaust as well.

Just did my '13 about a month ago
3890 online order for the SC + fit kit, free ship and no tax
Paid 944 for the SC install @ dealership. Was quoted 900, the 44 extra was for fluids you will need. It took 9 hours total. One full day then picked it up the next before noon. I called several other dealerships and this was the cheapest in my area. Prices can range wildly, from 900 to 1600!

What makes the '14 different than the '13? I thought both 4.0L motors were the same between the years.

And FWIW, I installed a supercharger kit on my old 2000 Accord by myself. Now that I'm older, I'd definitely have a dealership do it to keep my warranty if I was to go FI again.

The is no difference in the s/c itself b/w '13 and '14, just changes made to the map for the ECU. Couldn't install and keep warranty until TRD officially released it.

I agree, I installed a stillen s/c on my 03 Z, it wasn't the easiest thing to do without pulling the engine, but didn't have to worry about voiding the warranty since it was already expired.

Wow prices have really gone up when I purchased mine I got it for $3750 w/fit kit shipped to my door and of course I installed it myself which took about 12 hrs but that was for my 2005 and then one for my 2011. Not doing one on my 13 Im contempt without it :)

Makes sense. The Accord wasn't easy either, but still doable. I would love to have another 60hp and > 300 tq in the Tacoma, but it's not getting that expensive of an upgrade until it's paid off. GL with yours, though!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I asked about this at the dealership today. They said that TRD isn't releasing a supercharger for the 14 FJ or 4 Runner, they said it had something to do with internal changes in the engine, don't know if that's true or not just what they said. They also told me that 2014 is the last year for the Taco TRD s/c. I don't know if the market isn't big enough or what but if that's true it sucks monkey balls.

FJ / 4 runners have the dual vvti 1GR ..... tacos still have the old single vvti 1GR.

pretty much identical though. the dual vvti with a super would be a beast... as the dual vvti is already 30+ hp ahead of the single.

    Couple red flags here.
1)They can't charge more just because a Master tech is working on your truck.
    2) They can't charge more due to a tech not having experience on the installation. It's called Flat Rate time- if the tech takes longer to perform a job, it's on them.

    Just my $0.05

You're not the bearer of bad news however, you got misinformationn from the stealership. Toyota did develop a supercharger for the 2010+ 4R and FJC 4.0. It was showcased at a FJ Summit. http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/engine-performance/150518-2010-supercharger-here-summit.html

My understanding is the last hiccup was passing CA's CARB certification which recently happened so... Maybe us Dual vvti guys will be seeing it within a year.

Yes, at 3500 you can def feel a difference in pull.

I will take a manual transfer case and sports transmission that I can select 1st-5th gear on and hold it!

When I got mine, together with install it was about $5,000. And yes it takes anywhere from 8 to 10 hours of labor for them to install. Got to keep my platinum 8 year 100,000 mile warranty from toyota too! Mine is a 2012, but it's going to be pretty much the same.
