IMO they're for people who want to look like they wheel crazy shit. 99% of the branches are still going to hit your windshield any way.

Leon is using them.. But I think it's mostly for looks.

I only know 2 people who have them on their trucks.

One is a FJ and due to body flex they get so loose they become useless. The other is on a 4Runner that's on 38's and he needs them where he wheels.

They are silly on trucks like ours IMO. I'm not sure how you drive or through what you wheel, but if I don't need them I doubt there is a good reason for anyone else locally to have them.

Everytime I see a truck with them that is newer I just think "poser". It's like putting your spare tire on your roof...

 

oh yeah, word, i'll ask him. I wanted to make a set that I could disconnect for on road shit i feel like they would be a pain in the ass to drive with in your field of view

 

Did you ever hook up those switches ?

 

bumper is mounted to frame.

roof is mounted separate and sways almost 1".

connect them both via tensioned wire.................. = fail

 

yeah, it seems like the angle of the windshield especially on mine isn't particularly conducive to them working well

and yeah I really dont like how they look, but I was thinking if I could make an easy quick disco for them it could be cool to have, my A pillars have taken a beating.

Hopefully I'll have some wiring run and at least have the switch harness wired to the dash lights tomorrow. I'll post up when I do

can't be all that bad... you basically have lights mounted on your a pillars in the spot I always hit with branches.

when you get dents from the branches being so thick and from going so fast then we are talking it may be time for branch cables ...

Nope, it's been sitting in the storage unit 95% assembled since mod day. I need to get out there and finish it so I can at least run it. Do any of you have spanner wrenches that may work for a smaller sized shock?

Also my trucks hit so many branches that I can't see a use for risers. Usually they scrape along the side of the truck more than anything, never have much of an issue with them on the windshield.
