Congrats. How about an older Toyota pickup or 4Runner? Something with a 22RE and 5spd. Would be pretty good for a DD.

 

Thats true, Ive always had 2 vehicles. I just really hate cars. I owned one for 3 months and hated it. I didnt feel safe!

Yeah Ive thought about it but they are out of my price range atm. If I was going to get one it would be an old honda or acura that needs work. i dont wanna spend more then like $1200 if I buy one. just not worth it to me lol I am not a car person

thats a possibility too we are going to a abandoned car auction in a few weeks to see what they have. Possibly pick up something cheap there. I really dont care what it looks like lol

Get a motorcycle. Pretty hard to beat the cost per mile for a commuter, and in city traffic is 10X faster than a car. Plus, with your budget you could find something reliable...maybe not sexy...but reliable.

Can't split traffic in WA like you can in CA.

Besides, the uber cautiousness of the Prius/Camry/RX300 drivers along I405 wouldn't make it cost effective. Just an observation...

 

I kinda have a thing against motorcycles. Ill ride dirtbikes but wont touch a street bike lol good idea though!

Not only that, but you could do like the Subaru BRZ and put some skinny gas saver tires on it, which have very low grip properties and have a BLAST driving one. It would be a great on gas daily driver, but with a manual tranny and the ability to break traction (or not) at will would be a total hoot to drive every day.

 

As soon as I read Subaru, I immediately flashed to the Brat.

It is a dirtbike. I hate street bikes too, dual sports are the way to go. My beastie.

I loved my 2006 Corolla. I gave it to my daughter to drive when I got my truck last year. I was getting 32 mpg commuting in traffic.

The new TDI Audi hatchbacks are pretty slick...

My dad keeps talking about picking one of those up. I wouldn't mind one of those diesel VW pickups. My little bro has Datsun's version of it. Not a bad little commuter and you can still toss a dirtbike and light loads in it.

While uber Audi sedan was in for a recall, I was given a loaner = A3 TDI hatchback.

I drove that full of family and $htuff from Seattle via I90 to Missoula, MT on one tank of Diesel and still had 100 miles available (according to the fuel computer). Filled it with $50 of the US's finest diesel and drove it back to Seattle. Drove well enough but FWD and Auto = fail in my book @ Audis.

 

Tacoma + Dirtbike + Streetbike = baller status
