    That being the case I would almost find a good LS stock take out and run it till the lift and regear. open/open sucks. You need to figure out what gears you would like in the end as well. 4:56 is common with 35s but 4:88 would be nice if you don't need to run 80 everywhere.

    ahhhhh gotcha. I thought the tacomas had 8" rears but I guess its 8.4 according to that link. Yeah I missread those numbers. I know it would be cheaper to regear and add lockers at the same time but I can't do all of that right now. As long as I could use the same locker I'd just be paying for labor twice which isn't as bad.

    Yeah I don't know what stock is but I know people say the 4.56s work good with the 6 speed and 35s but if you go bigger for the tires go with the 4.88s. I don't think I am going to go larger than 35s on the truck though. thats already a healthy size tire

    Even a true 33"x12.50 is enough, I mean I used to run 38.5"'x14.50 on my powerwagon & I had a set of smaller 36.5"'s also, got better performance with the smaller set & less stress on hub spindle

    Has a lot to do with driver on the open/open. Def would want atleast 456.

    It feels a lot like 5 gear. kinda like they could have made it taller. It only drops rpm a little anyways but forget about trying to get up and go in 6th. usually have to drop down if I am trying to pass someone in a hurry

    Yeah thats what i figured, crappy ratio split, you can expect a 6spd to be close ratio but it'd been nice to leave it wide for an over drive

    Yeah I love driving stick but was kinda bummed after I bought mine to see how they geared it and what not. Still would definitely buy another manual but some better mpgs would be nice haha oh well

    If it doesn't wanna pull 6th then I would think about 488s. A quick way to check is tire compare to get the circumference %. Then do the gear %. So if you tires are 8% bigger and 456 is 7% more than stock your 1% shittier highway because you'll pull a % lower rpm than stock. 488 might be say 10% more which would be 2% higher on the rpm than stock. It will give you a good idea of what you want. If you can deal with 5th I would try to make 6th the new 5th. I have 456 and 33s. With a .78 od I think. I wouldn't mind 488s. I'd give up 300 rpm or 5 mph freeway for ass off road.
