Installing New Pioneer AVIC 8000NEX Help needed!

New to TacomaWorld and first time poster.

I recently purchased a new 2014 Tacoma Double Cab, TRD Sport with the Etune (ED) Non Nav Radio. I am seriously looking at pre-ordering a Pioneer AVIC 8000NEX. (They are shipping mid March 2014)

I have performed a lot of research in these forums and other places and believe I have the basic adapter kits identified but I still have other questions. I plan to have the radio professionally installed but would like to order everything online. I believe I have the basic installation Kits and Harnesses identified as:

1) Metra Dash Kit - 95-8235
2) Metra Wiring Kit/Harness

My questions are:

1) What adapter do I need for the rear backup camera?
2) Do I need and is there an adapter for the OEM USB Connector - Port?
3) Is their an adapter or do I need a new GPS antenna? I'm wondering if the Antenna Fin on top of my truck has a GPS antenna already installed even though my OEM radio is not GPS equipped?
4) I have read about a parking brake switch. Is this something I need for this unit?
5) Am I safe to assume I do not need any special adapters or tuner for the Sirius/XM radio? (my OEM has Sirius/XM trial period running now)
6) Anything I am missing

Sorry for so many questions but I don't want to show up with the wrong adapters or not have what I need... Thanks so much for the help!

eBay back-up camera adapter from eBay seller ckremernimrod1 (Unfortunately, there is no plug-n-play adapter at this time for the 2014, he is unable to source the connectors...)

 

That deck costs a lot. The Pioneer 8500 is around $800 less and does navigation from your phone (no worries about upgrading maps ever again). Plus you do not have to worry about putting a GPS antenna and wires in your truck (Not sure I could hide those as well as they would be on the factory antenna).

 

When you say it does navigation from your phone, what exactly does it do? Just read out directions or actually show them on the screen?

 

Full video and directions over the speakers. I use Waze app for GPS.

I also just started using Arliberator app that takes my now rooted Samsung S4 and connects it to my radio where the screen of the radio IS the screen of my phone. You can even touch the radio screen to affect apps on the phone (something you CANNOT do with just appradio - that requires you to touch the phone screen to change what you see on the radio). Search youtube for "Arliberator pioneer 8500" to see a demonstration.

My only complaint is that it requires a cord to be connected to your phone while doing this. Not a major gripe, since I would likely need to charge my phone if I were using the GPS anyway. I read about a router you can put in your truck to eliminate the cord, but the reviews are pretty mixed with most complaining the sound quality sucked.

If you go this way, be sure to get the parking brake bypass, otherwise you will get screen limitations with the truck not having the parking brake engaged.

I have tried contacting the eBay seller ckremernimrod1 several times about the backup camera adapter. He has not responded. Probably because AEmedic is correct that there is no adapter for the 2014. So, my question is.. Is there any hard wire or splice methods anyone has attempted? Any pinouts available for the backup camera yet?

Any help or ideas appreciated.

SFA12M will not work on the 2014 either...

 

ckremernimrod1 is a wizard with the camera setups, he fixed me up with back up cam for my stock 2013 entune, I would imagine he needs to see what comes out next March for pioneers new set up b4 he could make something for you.

 

I'm waiting on the same unit to be delivered, I had the AVIC-D3 before it was stolen.

1) I'm going with the Boyo VTL375HDL camera, it connects to the power, negative wire on the unit and the purple wire runs to the reverse light.
2) If you plan on using the AppRadio features, you will need an interface cable. I use an iPhone 5 which requires the Pioneer CD-IH202 interface cable and a Apple Lighting to VGA Adapter.
3) The unit comes with its own GPS antenna. Not sure if you can use your existing antenna.
4) I bypassed my last AVIC and plan to bypass this one when the bypass method comes out. But if you plan not to, then you will need to attach the green wire to the parking brake wire like in the instructions.
5) You will need the Sirius/XM SXV200V1 for connecting the satellite radio.

 

Very helpful info... I just received an e-mail from the place I ordered mine. It is now end of March early April for shipment. I also lucked out and got mine for $939 and was notified that it was a price mistake! However, they are going to honor the price since they already charged my credit card! (whew).. I have been looking for aftermarket backup cameras so thanks for the info on the Boyo. Also it wounds like you are right and the 2014 Sharkfin is not going to work either. I already have the SXV200V1 in hand.

I bought a "bypass adapter" so hopefully that works.

Pioneer Avic-8000NEX Motion Bypass

Step 1 - Ground parking brake wire
Step 2 - Power up unit
Step 3 - Put unit in OFF mode (AV screen, Source OFF)
Step 4 - Touch and Hold the Bottom Left Corner for 10-15 seconds, unit will beep and "set on" icon will appear.
