    Does anyone in here understand the Bill of Rights to its full extent? The wording and punctuation confuses the hell out of me.

    "This amendment exists to answer the objections of those who thought that naming some rights but not all results in the government’s claiming the power to prevent a person from “lying on his left side on a long winter’s night.”

    Which amendment is this? I feel like they should put in parenthesis a simpler language format for stupid people like me.

    That wasn't part of the amendment. Instead it was a joke said during the drawing of the Constitution/BoR when Pennsylvania tried adding in "right to bear arms when fowl hunting..." etc. Someone came back and made the joke that we should add in the congress can not prevent a man from the above.

    He doesn't give up a "Does not apply" option..

    With that being said, I'm going to go on a limb and say Amendment IX "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people." :)

    I had to read it about 10 times to wrap my brain around it. What this piece is supposed to mean is that the bill of rights as it was written then is what everybody shall have, but does not limit people for other rights. It essentially was to start a list and leave it open ended to add more to later.

    The way how they worded things back then is so confusing. I, too, read it multiple times saying 'wtf?'

    Happy Hump day everyone! Hope your day is going great!

    Took my mom to the hospital last night because she fell off a ladder and got a compound spiral fracture on her arm in her lower radius.. Surgery today and keeping her one more night!

    I hate hospitals........

    It's all good. I'll be helping my dad with a project car or something. He has way too many project cars around the farm though for me to figure which one we will work on.

    Shes at Valley General in Monroe. Not my favorite place but they seem to be doing a good job so far!
