Starstax is awesome!! So is star streak pictures!! And so was the super creepy ball of light on the sky behind us!
I am hoping the weather doesn't get as bad as they say its going to. I would like to do longer stuff. My wife was super creeped out by the "ufo" though, so we had to go...

Nice glad it workds well! i haven't have a chance to try it..the black looks WAY better then just one long exposure though. very cool.

I know there is a setting in there that helps blend the photo a bit smoother..might want to play with that to help the star trail lines look smoother and not quite so jagged....not bad..just could be a bit better.

    looks awesome though.

i know we have storm headed here so not sure what ill end up doing..cloud cover here is insane.

That was 60, 30 second exposures, and one with the lens cap on. I am going to play with it a little more. I was just excited to get it up here!

A 10-22 sure would have came in handy. At the very bottom of the shot is part of some corrals and loading shutes. Without busting through some sage I couldn't get them and the North star in the same shot. I need to find some better foreground.

Yea painting a cool foreground helps add a lot.

I have seen people take a day light photo too and wait till dark and then do the stacking of the night shots. Then you have to PS the day light/painted foreground in..turns out pretty cool though usually.

Id be jealous of the 10-44 for a shot like that. Be sick. Even just the north star center framed would be sick to get that much sky. The foreground could distort quite a bit..

Those star trail shots are awesome guys! Excited to give it a go tonight. What kind of f/iso settings are best?

You want a low iso and longer exposure. usually under 400. But if you want more star details and light, you can bump it up to 3200 if ya want. I find 1600 is as high as i like to go though.

location and elevation is key too.

Probably won't be able to get stuff like this in Oklahoma just due to not being high enough..

Holy cow!!! That is kick ass! My location is 25 min outside of Tulsa at about 725ft asl, so probably won't get the best results. I guess right at dusk the best time to start?
