I need to replace the lug nuts on the truck as the factory ones have deformed to the point that I have to use a 22mm socket to get them on and off.

Are these nuts from wheelers the same thing as the factory? The factory ones have a cap molded over the actual nut and that cap is what deforms.

I'd rather not spend $4 a piece on the same thing that has already failed.

i'd call wheelers. those may very well be the same cap style nut as well. if they weren't, i would think that the chrome plating would be on the entire nut, not jsut the top.

Yes, they're chrome plated. Guess I'll have to keep hunting for a viable lug nut.

I've got an XRC10 Comp. Great winch. all you need to do is crack open the case (4 bolts) when you get it, and repack it with good grease. then seal it back up with some silicone. then crack open the solenoid (another 4 bolts) and seal it up the same way. now you have a fully waterproof winch and solenoid that runs smooth as silk.

as long as the shank isn't too long, those look awesome. also verify the washer diameter to make sure they fit into the lug recesses

    Ordered!

I'll send off for a second "key" when the box shows up. It would suck to lose or break the socket.

These were a hell of a lot cheaper than the wheelers capped lug nuts as well. Wheelers were $4 a piece and these worked out to $2.50.

Any thoughts on using Co2 as the air source for painting? My front skid will be showing up sometime soon and I don't want to use rattle cans. I'll just buy a couple quarts of rustoleum. I'm going to see how the Co2 tank works for painting.

i don't see an issue. being that it's a dry gas, you don't have to run a condensing attachment on the outlet from the compressor/tank, like you do with a regular compressor. especially for a skid plate, i think you'll be just fine. just dial the regulator down so you don't have a very messy paint gun explosion on your hands lol.

What? You mean to say that 200psi through a cheap paint gun doesn't sound like a good idea?

Damn, this rack is almost exactly what I had in mind to build for myself. There are a few things that I would do differently though.

    - Eliminate the spacers and have the feet rest on the rubber molding
    - Eliminate the long slot for the cross bars
    - Choose a different cross bar, one with a deeper section

Ok, so maybe it's not so close to what I want to make. The feet holding the rails off of the truck are a weak point. There isn't any strength in connections to the bars due to the slot. I need to make a rack!
