So my UltraGauge 2 says that I'm averaging 16.6 MPG, but my math is telling me that I'm getting 14.2 MPG.

Im getting 300 Miles by the time my gas gauge is on E and the Tacoma has a 21 Gal tank. 300/21=14.2MPG

Any ideas? Is there something I'm missing? (i.e. reserve in the tank im not accounting for) Is the UltraGauge not all that accurate?

You need to divide by how many gallons you put in the tank when you fill it, not the capacity of the tank.

At fill up, set the odometer to zero. At next fill up divide what's on the odo by how many gallons you put in. Then you'll have your MPGs for the last tank of gas.

Should also say that this is dependent on you filling your tank all the way up each time.

Are you running larger tires? If so did u recall the Speedo on the Ultragauge? If you do have larger tires then what u travel and your vehicles odo are going to be different. U need to calibrate your Ultragauge to your conversion factor and use the "trip miles" function on your Ultragauge when u go to calculate your mpg

For instance if you are running larger tires your tacos odo might only say you've traveled 20 miles but you might have traveled 21.5 in reality. Now do that for 350 miles n that could make a considerable difference on your calculation.

Thanks than that is definitely what it is. If you did the recal option on page 39 then your ultra is looking at a different miles traveled. Just add the trip miles gauge to one of your pages and when you do your calc use that value

I bet you are only filling 17.5-19 gallons. Use what you pumped not 21 as said before. You'd think that was obvious.

Fill the tank , set trip odometer , when you go to refill the tank divide miles travelled by gallons required to refill the tank

User manual can be found here. It should have the answer to your question.
