I got a plastic emergency key from my dealer. It looks like a credit card. So I wouldn't worry about it.

I own a 2008 and had a locksmith cut a spare key for $4 to open door, he also said he can cut a chip key and program it for my vehicle for $90.

When I got the truck the dealership gave me a blank because it was used they said they're not required to give me 2 ign. keys. I took the blank up to Home Dep. today and they butchered the key. I talked to a manager and said I'm going to a Locksmith to see if it can saved but if not I'll be back. Lucky for them the locksmith was able to get the key working with just a little hang up. My advice is to go to a locksmith and not a big box store. They even sell the chipped keys.

Not required to give you two keys? buy your vehicles somewhere else. So what did they do with the second set of keys? They lost it and told you that BS line......

The truck was used not new. The previous owner works at the dealership and lost the key.

Understood for a used truck. I was referring to a new one, but FAIL me for my assumption. :)

Whoa, I think I'd have the truck rekeyed...in case the original owner tracks you down to try and get it back!
