Question: It appears that's this braces or wedges against the lower valence. Does this rub and scratch that portion it is in contact with? I really like this product, but I am super anal in my vehicles.

    Hi, Kyle!

I definitely understand your concern. I used to be very anal about my truck too when I first got it. So anal that I refused to allow my dealer to install the license plate. The front part of this bracket sits against the unpainted bumper and will leave minor pressure marks indicating that you had something installed against it before. Similar thing happens when you uninstall a license plate from a drilled bumper. Only difference is this bracket does not leave permanent wholes and it does not touch any of the truck's painted surfaces.
*****Update: The brackets are now rubber padded to prevent pressure marks**************

I have tried plasti-dip but plasti-dip is awesome for some other application. Thought of powder coating. Extreme heat like what's required for powder coating is not good for aluminum especially when the main part of the bracket is the a spring feature. I have tested this bracket in many ways and that included leaving it out in the hot sun of Hawaii for months. I very stoked that the spring stayed strong and never degraded.

The painted black bracket has a nicer softer surface. Definitely a must for the "anal" like us. I wouldn't say that I would never come up with a design especially made for the "Super Anal." But I am very happy and confident with this design that's why I wanted to share it with others.

Thank you very much for your awesome question! :D

Thanks for the response! A plate isn't required in my state, but I wouldn't mind having a nonpermenant option.

OP, how would these work with a billet grill? Also, any issues with having the setup offset to one side as opposed to the middle?

I'm almost 100% positive that it would NOT work on trucks with billet grill. There's a hook that grabs on the inside to hold the bracket in place. The only way you would be able to make it work is to make a 1/4" cut for each hook on the top part of the grill to make room for the hook.

The lower valence where the bracket is designed to go has the same size space end to end. So I would think that you would be able to snap it on anywhere on that valence. I can test it out with my friends truck first then I let you know.

My thought is that is would be in the lower, to the left or right of center, where the plate is currently. I am likely to do a hidden winch mount, and the fairlead will be right where the place is now, in my sig pic.

    Thanks!

Yah so if the lower grill where the plate is now is the stock grill you should be fine. Best is to try when time comes. I'll pay for your shipping fees if you try it and doesn't work out how you want it.

The added zip ties is an awesome idea but not necessary.
The Total strength of the bracket comes together only after the license plate is finally screwed on.
Testing the sturdiness of each piece does not reveal the true strength of the bracket.
Would I zip tie my bracket? Yes, I would. I don't see why not.

Again, thank you very much for posting that info.
