So many people either sell a Sub for a Yota or a Yota for a Sub haha I have a friend with a Tacoma looking at WRXs right now and another with an outback looking at Tacomas haha

    Clean shots, man! Welcome!

yea been messing with ML all night. Even got my 60d shooting RAW 14bit video with the nightly build! bit more to the work flow for raw video but so worth it.

The stable version 2.3 is very documented and runs well on everything. Really simple to do. Your camera acts the same as it did before but now you can access the ML menu by pressing the trash button.

Just the three:) I live for cars and modding them.

Yep, I had to step into the Impreza for a while to get the A5 paid off. It was the next best DD I could think of. Such a great little car.

Thank you! Here is the last Taco… pre photography :p

So I seem to recall reading somewhere that lengthy exposures (or use of Live View) could cause the sensor to overheat.

Is that the reason for the default max 30-second exposure and lack of a factory "B" or "T" settings?

If so, what is the practical limit of a Nikon sensor? Am I okay holding it open with a remote for 30 minutes?

As far as I know a remote isn't going to hold the shutter open for 30 minutes w/o the camera being in bulb mode. Might just be a feature they left off of the lower end Nikons to cut costs.

yea you need bulb mode and with a remote you can have it open as long as you want.

That said..lets be real..in the winter, your not going to overheat your sensor.

Is it something to know about? yea..something super super important..nah. I have read most newer cameras have gotten over this.

and ML worked awesome...sadly...light pollution is horendous here...fuck cities...so gonna have to figure out something for the challenge..

Fun times at the pier tonight. Messed around with long exposure, but here were a few that didn't make the cut for the challenge.

I just installed ML on my 50D, I'll see how I like it for HDR's before I try the 7D :)

Yea man, they are awesome cars. A lot of my NE buddies DD them. My A5 is the garage queen. I have dumped a good $18k in mods over the past few years, and I am very particular about the car. It basically comes out for mountain drives, and GTG's/Shows. We do several Audi GTG's each year up and down the east coast. There are a good 12-14 of us that talk everyday on the forum, and meet up as often as possible. Just this past fall, I hosted a GTG in Blowing Rock. We had NY, NJ, FL, LA, CA, WA, and VA in attendance. Anyways, that is way off topic:)

Thank you for the kind offer. I had the camera still sitting on the tripod from the night before in bulb mode, when I saw the hawk I ran back inside to grab it and was in such a hurry and excited that I just turned it on and tried shooting, that didn't go so well  So put it in P mode with spot focus using the 300mm F4 lens. The hawk was just a little bit more than 100 feet from me. All shots came out at 100 iso, F/5.6 and 1/800 shutter speed. You are correct lighting was poor and even though he was on top of a branch I had a hard time focusing on him because the wind was moving the trees and branches around. I'm trying to focus on the head of birds and if I can the eyes every time now. Took about 20 pictures the first 5 were rushed because I was afraid he was going to fly off. Then slowed down, controlled breathing and bracing my body against my trailer with my support arm holding the lens tripod mount just like shooting rifle offhand. But all the shots came out about the same, like they were out of focus or the subject was moving. After he flew into a different and denser tree about the same distance away but different angle I seemed to be able to focus a little bit better for some reason, the pictures are a bit cleaner.

You are also correct about pbucket. It was fine for phone pics and the P&S but right away noticed a drop in IQ with pics from the new camera due to downsizing. You talked me into finally signing up for flickr, I hate Yahoo and consider it a virus but broke down and opened an account to use flickr. Thanks Ben.

It's free software that runs off your sd card and adds a host of new functions that weren't included from Canon. Like built in Intervelometer, HDR video, focusing options like follow focus. Your camera will act normal until you use the trashcan button, then you get into the ML menu and can customize everything, and then go back to normal operation menus. very easy to use as well.
