I don't understand the idea of a 'pistol' AR15 unless you happen to live in an area that doesn't allow SBRs and can't move to one that does. The $200 for a tax stamp in ammo equivalent lasts about 30min at the range.

I will be using one on my build. I like the idea of concealability and not having to deal with the man for the stamp. Maybe if I add a can down the road but not for the initial setup.

There are several reasons and thoughts behind it.
One is this is a pistol, and you know what, around it in many states I travel I can carry it as a CC, I can drive with it in the truck, loaded unloaded any way I want. Most states have different laws about loaded out of sight rifles and SBR.
Also the fact it can be carried any place with out the need to do the forms to transport it out of state every year and every location.

There are also areas that will let you have a CC in a car/truck but not let you have an AR or AK, so this is covered as CC in my state and many others.
No tax stamp, no cost of transfer, tax, paperwork and so on..
Also many states will not let you hunt with a SBR, these are 300 Blackouts in, you guessed it, a pistol, I'm good to go for hunting if I want.

BTW I have killed over 15 deer with the 300 blk and it is a deer killin round...

I was planning on just putting a phase 5 tube on this AR47 pistol build but I think I may go with the arm brace. Why not.
I figure the arm brace may help me get a better cheek weld than a standard tube.

This will have a side charging bolt, 7.62x39, etc. I'm pretty excited about it.

If you do, use the KAK ind tube you will like it a little better. It is about 2" longer and gives a better fit and feel..

How does the sig arm brace stay attached to the buffer tube?

Really really nice. I think they are great for home defense if you live in a compact house. The layout of my house I can't is my AR. It's to long.

Press fit and does not move when in place. The front of the tube has a step in it that is larger to help also. Makes it look better and fit better then a standard tube.

It really can when you are shooting 230 or 240 lead bullets from them, they make a great HB gun.

FYI, Sig sells the for buffer tube extensions but they do not manufacture them. I have one on my M92 PAP and it simply bolts on between the grip and receiver(for AK platforms).

While approved by the BATF as a "brace", I would not use it as a faux stock at a range. Just IMO, but I don't want to end up in court for "misuse" of a product that is clearly in the gray area of he law.

(I'll apologize in advance for the upside down pic, damn iPad)

Exactly why I'm SBRing my PAP and doing it the right way.

If the device is approved, it's approved. Unless your installing in a different way than it's been approved, how you hold it is immaterial. The biggest danger is anti-gun media catching wind of the alternative use and lobbying for the BATF approval to be withdrawn.

MAYBE if I lived in a state where I couldnt build an SBR, I'd think these were cool...but I don't.

I really don't understand AR pistols. I borrowed a pistol lower from a guy when I was going through my first SBR build, i wanted it to check function of my 10.5 upper. I shot a mag through it and it was the most uncomfortable and awkward thing ever.
