Just made one to test fit the holes out of aluminum. To hold a 3/4" shackle it's gonna bee beefy lol

Well it fit. Weird random ass triangle. But nothing a bit of geometry couldn't handle.

Is the shackle point going to be 90°?

 

it will be on the steel version. I tried bending the aluminum and it started to crack. this prototype is only for making sure the hole fit and to see around what size it would end up as. and found out I have to rotate the mounting holes because its at a 45 degree angle at the moment

 

If you decide to look at mine, I bet they will be a lot easier.

I might be able to snag a couple 3/4" shackles from work. Might not be super new tho. They look better painted anyway.

I think Luka should machine you a bracket from a block of stellite or K-monel

We are actually moving away from HY-80 and HY-100 in the shipyards. That is being replaced with HSLA-80 and HSLA-100 because preheating HSLA is not as critical as with the HY series. Saves time and money. I have actually seen HY steel start cracking right in front of my own eyes as we were doing a visual inspection on the welds because it wasn't properly preheated and cooled down. It was pretty crazy. Everything had to be removed with a gouger (air arc) and clad welded.
