For me it is. I cut my fenders to fit my tires and haven't replaced the liners yet (summer project) so my intake was totally exposed. Piece of mind when crossing water and traveling around dusty ass Nevada.

I keep a Mexican blanket it my truck to throw over the winch line when in use in case something goes pop. I can also use it if I need to take a nap.

Or you can roll with one of these.

i'd pick up a tow strap or winch line extension eventually. works a lot better than a snatch, that you'll turn into a slingshot while winching.

I am considering doing a snorkel. What would you have to say about that brand? Pros/Cons? Any affect on the intake?

    Pros:
    • Made for Tacoma so its a straight forward install. No need to jerry rig anything.
    • Nice and big so it doesn't restrict airflow
    • My truck seemed a little more responsive after I put it on, not a bunch and its probably all in my head
    • Explaining to females what it is
    • Piece of mind knowing that I'm not going to hydrolock my engine crossing water
    Cons
    • Ugly
    • Explaining to males wtf it is
    • If you uninstall it you have a big ass hole in the side of the fender
Overall I like it and am glad I installed it.
    Recoup R&D costs? :notsure:

That's hilarious. I have the AFE CAI right now and I feel like its doing nothing but sucking water into my engine. I will be using the funds fromt he sale of the CAI towards a good drop in filter and snorkel. It is pretty rediculous how much they are charging for those peices of plastic. There is no way they did THAT much R&D lol

Charging $300+ for a foot long tube with a shroud on the end is also ridiculous :D

I totally get what your say but I am a cheap ass. I got mine reconditioned from AFE for $250 shipped then sold my stocker for $40 so I kind of lucked out. Thats nothing compared to the $500 that Safari and that Airflow place want for the Snorkel.

About to make the switch to synthetic line. Can anyone recommend a hawse fairlead? I see ones that are half inch thick, all the way up 1.5 inches thick. Even saw one where the radius actually protrudes into the bumper. Not sure if one is better than the other or what.

    Mods coming soon!
Do y'all replace all the 2 gauge wires from
The box or do y'all splice them
    In when relocating the solenoid?
