took the rear end from the donor Prerunner and removed the 3rd member with e-locker. Then changed out the gears from the 4..1 to my new 4.56 gears. Also gutted the wiring harness and 4wd computer from the donor truck. Tomorrow I will be installing the new rear axle assembly, but it will take a week to get the new harness and computer installed, so the e-locker won't function until then.

Yeah, the plan is that when I am done it will look and function exactly like a factory e-locker.

Eh, you could get the same functionality by making your own harness and it would be much simpler :notsure:

Yea it's just a solenoid. Just wire in a custom harness. Be easier. And you don't need to swap ecus weather way you do it. In fact you can't since the new ecu is for a prerunner so it won't have 4wd in it.

Just run wires and have it setup t come on when even the switch is on. Done.

Not bad at all really. Taking off the throttle body kinda sucked. Much easier than the old 3.0L. The timing belt ran me about $66 I think, but a whole kit (w/ idlers and water pump) is around two fifty to three.

The 1999 Prerunner has a single 4wd ECU that controls the e-locker. I have the truck here and it took me less than 30 minutes to gut the wiring harness and ECU for the locker. I know I could just fab up something like you all have mentioned. Personally it was my preference and desire to have things look like it CAME with the e-locker, and function the same way. Complete with the light on in the dash. Advantage being if there is a problem with the e-locker functioning (perhaps eventually the motor will fail, etc) I will then have the flashing light indicating a fault.

hey box I didn't end up grabbing them, it would have taken knowledge and tools that admittedly i do not have to make them look good! ... they looked sick on his truck, a few blemishes but nothing that really affects the integrity of the fiberglass.. could use new paint and those one pace headlights, the corner(marker) lights really do not fit in there at all!! but i'm sure you could figure something out

The counter guy said they heated em and sprayed lube on em? Idk im thinkin bout tryin to loosen em up myself, im kinda upset I just spent $66 for nothing lol...

    Quote:

unable to align completely L front inner and outer tie rod end are frozen together, reccomend replacement of both the realigning. R/front caster is maxed out of adj due to lift kit. Vehicle may still pull even after alignment.

    Hellpp lol
