    That is correct. It a PITA to get everything bolted tight once the bracket is mounted. Take the bracket completely off of the can and mount the fender side first. Thread those nuts and washers on only 1-3 threads at first or you won't be able to mount the can. Then mount the lid of the can to the bracket fully. Then go back and do the fender nuts. You will see what I'm talking about when you go to do it

    Yea I know what you mean. I think I'm going to try to make a small bracket that will bolt to those factory holes out of some 22 gauge sheet metal then bolt the can to it. Just so there aren't extra holes for now. I'll post back how it goes tomorrow.

    May be a dumb question I've been wanting to get one of these for my truck for awhile now but the only thing is I already have a good 130 almost 140 thousand miles on my 07. Would yall think its pointless for me to do it since I have a good number of miles, or the other answer which is do it pro long the life of my truck any way possible. Thanks TW :)

    Here's my small bracket I made. I'll redo it eventually cause its not as great as I want but it works for now. Installed at 1561 miles so the engine should stay clean most of its life.

    So is this how much oil is being removed from the engine after just 100 miles? I wonder how many people check their oil on a regular basis

    Rookie/newby/idiot question, so why are these not installed from the factory? Simpy because of cost? If this will help keep sludge build up from the engine, how is this not a key part to the engine that Toyota installs? Are the effects debatable? Is it because in "theory" if you follow Toyota routine maintenance you shouldn't have to worry about sludge?

    I'm a little mad that I'm just finding out about these, would it do me any good to add one to my 185k engine, or if I have/had sludge build up, it's too late?

    They aren't stock because burning it makes engine more emission friendly plus they can't count on every person taking the time to empty out safely.

    The only vehicle I know for a fact comes from factory with a can is the dodge viper acr.

    The truth is, most people would not check this on a regular basis, likely causing major issues if it becomes full and clogs the air intake and engine with crap oil

    Which ill just be dumping it into used oil containers to recycle at local auto stores. I'll check mine in 100 also and see how things are doing.

    My one complaint about this can is the bracket they made, it rubs on the lower part and has already scratched it to hell but squeaks a ton.

    I carefully bent mine up so it does not rub anymore. It doesn't take much force to fix it

    OK..I understand the how and why of these...but what is the difference between the one that you got and did the write-up with vs. the one that has a filter on top of it ? For a different model that requires free flowing air as opposed to the vacuum that you said you had ?

    The filter on top is a breather. You can use that one if you wish, but you'll then need to cap the intake side of the pcv instead of running the intake hose back to it

    Yup. If you want to catch the maximum amount of oil, do what I did. Place some metal mesh from a chore boy scrubber in there. Don't stuff it packed tight, but just enough to give the oil mist something to condense to. It catches much more that way.

    Also DO NOT crank down the can tightly lmao. It's very hard to get off when it heats up and gets some vacuum pressure on it. Now imagine trying to remove it if you tightened it down hard haha
