This has been argued before on this forum and it got nowhere. Plus the OP is a 4x4 so it doesn't matter. :p

Thanks for all of the information and input. I will be looking at all of this information and checking with vendors to see what options I can get to match what I need, and go from there. I will post up later when I decide on the final one.

Nah never slipped on them, not even once with mud, snow or ice. If it was red clay that may be different... The expanded steel allows most everything to fall through. And you can always speed up through the last bit of water to wash them off on that section of trail, works for me! :D

Adam can make pretty anything you want. The steel might be cut using CNC but welding is done by him and is perfect. I'm a retired Navy pit snipe Chief and seen enough weld jobs in my life LOL. His are at the top. Bolt on take longer to get than welded to the frame. Great guy and great job, pretty sure he will customize anything you want.

So today we are dropping down at -20 F with wind chill of -50. IIRC you said you spend time in the "mountains" of Tn. They are actually hills but I am not about to go tell Dolly that the Smokey Mountains should be called the Smokey hills LOL. I moved here from Asheville NC and the name Smokey Mountains comes from the vapor that the fauna generates. In other words it is lousy with chlorophyll. And it is so mild in the winter compared to here that I will retire back there in 9.5 years.

I have been stationed all over the US. Hiked much of the Pacific trail and Appalachian trail and can tell you when you do off road much depends on the terrain where you are for what you need for protection. Put a ridgerunning woodchuck and a spud fucker from Idaho in the Baja desert and yes you are going to stuck. At first, hopefully you learn over time. Bouncing off rocks and lateral slides into trees are different events. The bottom line is protecting your rig. I had Brandon at Avid Offroad build me a custom light bar. Didn't want to hang more than a hundred pounds off the front end on a plate bumper, been there done that. He wanted to use perforated steel instead of expanded steel which I wanted. His idea was OK and would work great in the SW, but it isn't near as good as expanded steel for snow where I am now IMO. At least where I now live and explore. It holds snow a lot more.

    tacosnow1_zps2edd5b21_80e13f17c01fba1a5d680e5ad90b9007d41b9fd0.jpg

The sliders only hold snow on the round tubes. The expanded steel lets it through. The perferated steel holds it until I drive down the road and the wind blows it out. Just saying, know what you really need for where you are going to end up.....

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I am quite aware of what I am planning on putting my truck through. That is why I am taking the steps required to get her capable of what I plan to do. Right now it is a matter of finding the builder who will get me what I want, and not cost an arm and a leg. I know certain changes to the standard design will cost. I'm just working on how much. lol.

+1 on 4xInnovations. Call Adam and ask him how much it would cost to put a plate over the kickout section of the sliders. I bet a pair of DOM kickout sliders with the plates shipped will be less than many other options.

His one negative is he isn't online much. I think he's the only guy burning stuff together so he's always busy keeping inventory so that his stuff is in stock ready to ship.

Calling him is a much better way to contact him.

    Check the build thread.
Sliders were one of my first purchases and I chose to buy the All-Pro sliders for a few reasons. From my research on the forums I found people have abused these and have been extremely happy with how well built they are. The angle that they are at is perfect for clearance and protection. PLUS they just look sexy as hell.

I ended buying almost everything from All-Pro and crazy story but after sending them some photos of my build with their parts they actually offered me a job lol so now I work for them which flipping ROCKS! I just wish I would have been with them before getting all the parts so I could have gotten employee pricing lol

okay so... SHOULD I: Weld on my Sliders that I bought from ANBCUSTOMFAB
or would it be better to BOLT them on after aligning and drilling holes??

Family keeps telling me I should Never weld to my frame???
(i dont plan on doing legitimate rock crawling. they are for side steps.)

edit:also I am not "lifted" yet

Hate to say it but your fam doesn't know what they are talking about. Actually 80% of sliders are weld on. The only reason I went with bolt on is because it ended up beig cheaper. If you don't have to pay someone to weld them on for you then is say weld it. Lift doesn't matter for sliders really..
