I don't like how our roof is curved, and that most caps line up better with the double cabs. To me it just looks funny that the roof of the cap sits below the roof of the cab.

I'm not feeling the love of that look either, I do like the MX much better and Momma says go color matched. But now that $200.00 is $400.00 more...

    I feel my wallet bleeding...:D

Thinking of repainting the rims on Linda's Rav4. They have ample rust on some spots.

What is the best way to get rid of that? Sanding disc? Wire wheel? Something else?

Are you planning on pulling the tires first or not? I wonder if naval jelly might work well to dissolve some of it first.

If you're pulling the tires you might as well get them sandblasted.

Trying not to pull the tires if I can help it. The rims are 9 yrs old and look it. Structurally solid but just fugly.

I would see what naval jelly can do then wire wheel it.

Still up in the air..I can't imagine it would cost a ton to have em broken down then remounted the next day. The tires only have about 10k so maybe be worth it to have the peace of mind factor. That and have to see if my brother in law has a sandblaster..

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.

It's a fucking huge mess, but blasting is the best option to clear them back down to pure base metal. Ugh, I'm never doing that in the garage again.

Wire wheel will take off the heavy stuff, then depending on the profile of the wheel, probably hand sanding. Sand blasting would be best but not everyone has one of them laying around. After you're done sanding, make sure you do a lot of cleaning so the paint actually sticks. Since you're not planning on pulling the tires, check out the index card method. It's basically just shoving index cards on end between the wheel lip and the tire. It's the easiest way to mask off the tire in my opinion.

Yeah thx....other than shopping this cap everything I've done to the truck was in the 1st month I owned it. The only other thing I've done is drive it over the last 2 1/2 years and compared to all the GM's I've owned it's been a pleasure and I'm never going back.

Unfortunatly I own a couple of Harleys and also like to saltwater fish and to be honest those three things eat plenty of cash...the cap will be the last major purchase that is an add-on.
