GAS PEDAL RECALL

i got a letter in the mail for my 06 taco yesturday about the gas pedal has anybody had this done or do i need to worry about it

 

I just ignored it on my 06. They want to trim your pedal.

 

Same, I've been ignoring it since it came out, I think in '09 or '10

 

i looked at it again it says floor mat interferance with gas pedal so does that mean they are going to cut the gas pedal down

 

They trim the pedal and flash the computer with the brake override program. Your choice.

 

i understand and there is nothing wrong with it how it is now but just dont have the money rite now for all i want to do to it

 

It also installs the transmission software that corrects the odd shifting pattern at a rolling stop from 1st to 2nd in the autos that was a stand alone TSB on the '09's

 

well mine is a 06

 

i dont understand why they would flash the computer for its a gas pedal i mean are they going to flash the whole computer or one piece of the program

 

On my 07 they replaced the gas pedal with a new shorter pedal. So I got new rubber on the pedal wich was good and I noticed no difference cause of the shorter pedal as far as how it felt under my foot. They did the reflash and the trans shifts better as a result plus the accelerator used to hang a little when you dropped the throttle after hard acceleration like when you are entering the highway coming off the ramp and that was cured too. I feel it was an improvement and worth the hassle.

They send me a recall letter for mine every so often. I can't be bothered. Plus I have the Weathertech liners. Nothing to worry about for me. Ain't nobody got time for a trip to the dealer for dat!

 

I brought mine in for a TSB repair for the throw-out bearing..They cut my gas pedal without permission..

 

I used to work at a dealership that conducted these recalls. Unplugging the pedal jacks up the connection to the computer so we "re-flash" it just to re-establish the connection.

As for the pedal itself, we literally just remove it, draw a line in sharpie with a dealer provided template, cut and sand. This is just to prevent the pedal from the risk of catching on the floormat. Really up to you if you feel you need it.

 

I've heard of that happening to few people. They shouldn't do shit like that without asking. Shame.

 

I actually got mine done yest along with the access cab recall on the front seatbelt assembly. They just did mine cause it was there.

 

Nope, reflash refers to uploading new software into the ECU which contains the brake override and other updates, such as the shifting issue the OZ-T mentioned.

I held out for the longest time, then when I had the spiral cable replaced under that recall, it had it all done at once since it meant my defective spiral cable would be replaced for free. the chopped pedal doesn't bother me at all, and the software update for free was OK in my books.
