I'm fed up with this stupid factory horn in this truck. It's almost more effective just to yell out the window because I'm embarrassed to even touch the horn. Its brutal. Anyways I'm going to install something that will be completely overkill (capable of blowing minivans into the trees) and I was just curious what others have installed. I have seen a few threads with some horn upgrades but not the sound I would want. I have seen this site http://www.hornblasters.com/ and they have a pretty good sound. Has anyone tried them or anything similar? I have to do something soon as I feel like a neutered poodle using my horn....Tips anyone? Or what have you installed?

From another motorist that you may or not be honking at... please don't put a train horn on your truck. It's idiotic IMO.

Here's a hilarious video that shows a far more suitable upgrade.

Look into either PIAA or Hella horns for an upgrade. As mentioned above, train horns for your every day horn is reserved for complete ass hats with tiny penises.

I wanted a train horn for my truck. I looked at one up close it was about 5 feet long. It looked like it would take the whole output of my engine to blow it.

This has nothing to do with penis size...more of a way to vent some anger upon the oblivious drivers that (in my head) are probably listening to circus music while dodging in and out of lanes without using a signal...and that one woman who slammed on her brakes at a green light....those horns are nice and everything and I have looked at several of them. But I do want to overkill it in a way because I've gone so long with this horrible horn. If I need to install a compressor to operate a new one then it may also come in handy for a few other mods as well no? So there is a plus side to it I think. I don't think its "Idiotic" at all. Im not 16yrs old and dont get a hard on scaring random passerby's on a side walk or anything of that nature...I'm 35....And honestly I may or may not try it on a few passerby's.......But seriously. I just want to have something that will wake up the "IDIOTIC" drivers. Can you blame me? I don't want to build one that's held together with glue or silicone either...But thanks for the idea. So I'm going to try and find a good air horn if I can. If I can manage to find an affordable one that would be perfect. Either that or I'll have to go back to anger management...

Take the metal clips off the front of the horns. Takes 5 seconds and increases horn loudness by 30% if not more. That's what I did. Loud as hell now.

Never, in the history of driving, has anyone heard a train horn coming out of the truck behind them and thought anything other than "that guy's a douche." But it's your truck, and we live in America, where the freedom to pursue douchery is largely tolerated by 98% of drivers. The other 2% keep ball bearings in their glovebox for times when people in trucks with train horns drive up behind them.

I had a hornblasters kit once in my lowered s10. It sounded like... a train. It was loud. You have to pick and choose when you use it unless you like getting a ticket from a cop or giving an old lady a heart attack. But it was one of the funnest things I ever bought.

I mounted them in the fender of the bed on the passengers side in the s10 and then behind the grill of my blazer when I had that. I sold them with the blazer which was wrecked by the new owner 2 months later.

Don't listen to the negative responses. I am going to install a train horn on my taco for the same reasons you want. Where I live there is a lot of 16 year old d-bags whom think they own the road and the cops do absolutely nothing about it (ask me how I know), since I can't get out of my truck and whoop their ass legally for driving under the influence or wreck less driving, I do what I can. To answer your question, find a 150 ish dB rated kit on hornblasters and you should be happy.

You should team up with the guy looking to deactivate his airbags for ramming "things" out of his way on demand.

This is nothing but pure ego and anger.

I agree on the necessity of a stronger horn and was under the thought that a train horn would suit this purpose. After putting myself in the other "sleepy" driver's shoes, I realized that an uber loud train horn would be counterproductive. I used to drive fast, hence the Audi RS6, but no longer at the expense of stressing me and others out.

A slight upgrade to these might help?

I assumed the risk of this, but the mobile skin doesn't include such information, and everyone who matters lives in the US anyway, so I went with it.

Why not get one of those cop car horns? Like the ones you can buy in GTA V!

I guess there are not to many that have done this huh.. Either way I appreciate the advice and links. Thanks guys.

Ben916: Thanks for the link to the horn but I went and looked on youtube for the sound they have and it was not what I would settle for. Not a "bad" horn but not the sound I would like. Appreciate it tho bud. Thanks.

Polymerhead: ?!?!? Whats your deal? Oh Im sorry, I'm Canadian so only you matter? Thanks for coming out to let everyone know...
