Looking for a good twin sized inflatable mattress, fairly cheap. Not looking to spend a whole lot on one. Just got a camper cover and gonna put the twin mattress in between the wheel wells. Dimensions in between are 39", and the bed is roughly 74-75" long. Anyone got any suggestions? I've looked a little on Amazon, and looked at one at Dicks Sporting Goods, the ones on Amazon have quite a bit of reviews, but the are about even, some good, some bad, so it's hard to judge...

hmm i wonder if the one in knoxville has them.
hey wes why not see if you can find some cots? kinda like army cots but maybe some from Coleman or someone. my parents found some for a good deal last year. also can keep some stuff under them, also they will can go over the wheel wells.

the ones my parents got are pretty comfortable unlike the true army cots. they came with a small like foam pad even.

In my experience inflatable mattresses suck for camping, they tend to deflate with fluctuations in temperature, especially when it gets really cold. I would suggest thermarests.

Not a bad idea…I just like the thought of being able to deflate it and put it in the corner of the bed so I can haul more things until I can get a crate built for the top to haul coolers and what not.

Note: there will be 2 people on this one twin mattress. I know it's gonna be tight, but we are relatively small, combined weight is probably around 250-260lbs.

    They fold up fairly compact.

I have never used this one, just the first pic I found.

I used to be a Therma-rest proponent. Then, I tried an Exped mat. What a difference!

I’ll see if i can get a photo of ours in the next few days and send it to you. They fold up into like a squire, and are maybe 4” thick folded up. You could put the coolers or what ever on top of them if you wanted.

I don’t think i could fit anyone els on one with me, and you know how small i am.

Definitely do. REI carries them and you can test them out in-store.

Sort of like the Therma, you'll want to lie on your side and let enough air out that your hip is barely above the ground. Unlike the Therma, if you're on the rocks, you won't notice them as much.

For me, it's just more comfortable than my Thermarest.

If you haven't already visited backpackinglight do so, sounds like its right up your alley. I went to a little seminar and met Ryan. Great guy. I do think I scared him though...at the beginning of the seminar he asked everyone to raise their hands and then lower them if their camping set up weighed less than 20 lbs. then 25 and so on. I was the last one left with my hand up. He didn't believe me when I said my tent weighed 120 lbs :D
He drives a Taco too so he can't be a bad guy right?

Whats everybodys thoughts on the Biolite stove vs the other top propane/isobutane type stoves etc?

I know the Biolite you need wood etc, so if you didn't carry a small amount and got caught in some serious rain and couldnt find dry wood you may have some difficulties. Plus I think it may weight a little more, specially if you carried even a very small amount of wood if your counting ounce's.

And which propane/isobutane stoves have seemingly risen to the top of reliability? Opinions?

I should've specified, for backpacking/hiking, one to two people. A good all around four seasons type.
That's kinda what I was thinking on the biolite.

Hmm, not quite clear when you say built in pot warping, only thought that comes to mind, is maybe the metal had some defect and when expose to extreme heat caused it to warp:confused:

Yeah what your saying about the whisperlight, is some of the stuff I was wanting to hear, because that's what I want to eliminate. I like hearing peoples feedback.

I've made a couple of alcy stoves which work good, and boil water super quick. I use the 91% alc. And sometimes simlicity is the way to go.

Sounds like the MSR PR might be the way to go, I mean all of them boil water so, it's not like it's critical to do it in five seconds.
Just mainly looking to get a good dependable one that will last.
Thanks for the feedback. And I'll check the link out.

I love my msr pocket rocket, its super light, really small and has worked flawless for me. I rarely take a stove anymore though I just don't bring food I have to cook

MSR Whisperlite. I have the International version
    http://www.cascadedesigns.com/msr/stoves/simple-cooking/whisperlite-international-2012/product

Having the option of using different fuels is nice. It light, easy to set up and use.
If you're looking for a stove to use in cold weather/winter camping situations stay away from the canister type - the like MSR superfly or reactor, Jetboil, etc. They tend to not perform so well once the level of fuel runs down so you end up having to pack extra canisters for your trip and are left with 1/2 empty canisters after the trip. Not to mention that the canisters are one time use, are a pain to dispose of (there are a couple of places close to me that will take them but still such a waste) and are expensive.

Never been to Zion... :pout: I would love to do a marathon camping trip to the lower end of Utah and catch Zion, Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce...someday...
