Time for my 30k maintenance so I'm doing all the zerks, differentials, transfer case, filters and plugs. I'm using the OEM Denso copper tops; but does any one know the reason why the 4l V6 doesn't use platinum or iridium. Just wondering.

You should be able to get platinum denso or ngk ones off rock auto. No idea why it doesn't come with them, cost maybe?

Dunno... The V6 wasn't engineered to have Iridium plugs. Copper is a better conductor of electricity but other than that I don't know. Changing the plugs every 2 years isn't really a big deal to me so I'm cool with putting the copper plugs in.

Go over to the Technical Chat section. There are a couple of great write-ups stickied on spark plugs...
