Very nice shot. I really like this shot. I've tried some like this before and never got what I wanted. The colors, reflections and starbursts look great!

    BlackDawg (Monte)

The colors in this shot look great. I've thought about doing night HDR but never have had a chance to yet. The dynamic range looks great.

    skidooman (TJ)

I know you had some issues with the jagged star streaks but you did an excellent job on this for your first time. The composition was right on getting Polaris in the corner and having the stars circle around it. Very nice shot! I hope you continue on in this venture.

    hgfontana (Hernan)

This shot came out great with the colors and clouds. I really like how you used the subtle light to light the playground and brought out the colors. Very nice work!

    Pistol Pete (Eric)

Haha! I was wondering if someone would explore the world of light painting. I'm glad that when you couldn't find something you thought was interesting enough to photograph you improvised and tried something new. If you're into light painting check out PixelStick.

    pkjr (Pete)

You never disappoint me with your pictures. You can take just about anything and make it interesting. The colors, movement and stars reflecting on the wall look great! Very nice work!

    BabyTaco (Gage)

This is a really nice shot. I know you were kinda rushed to get out sand get something with school going on. I'm glad you did. I know you also remembered about the ISO on the walk back and were freezing to get this. The colors and stars in this shot just pop. Very nice work. I also hope you will stick with this and explore a little further into what you can do with this.

    92shawman (Kevin) (Lenscap)

I like this! The streaks look great! I always enjoy looking at street scenes showing vehicle lights. I like that you used a smaller aperture to starburst the street lights. Very nice stack to bring up the detail of the tree. You almost feel like you're standing there in this shot. Very nice work!

    Chenbro

Wow! You never cease to amaze with the photos you take. The beams coming off the lighthouse just make this photo. The lighting and color is great. Very nice work! Is this one just ambient light?

    Cold Iron

I really like how you captured the movement in the flag where you can still see the deck behind it. Color is great along with leading lines bringing your eye right to the flag. Nice work sir!

    jeremy1ns (Jeremy)

I like this photo a lot! I always enjoy the night street scenes. The lighting is nice and not overdone. It's hard sometime to get the light streaks just right. You did a nice job of it in here. Very nice work!

I know this seemed like a hard challenge to some of you. I really impressed with the turnout, I didn't expect this many entries. I hope everyone found out that long exposures aren't that hard to do and just because there isn't bright lights or a flash doesn't mean you can't get the shot. To me a lot of the places I've shot look so much better at night. The street lights always throw some neat lighting on stuff. I'm proud of everyone that attempted this and learned something. Because that was the whole point of this challenge.

This was a very hard challenge to decide on. All the entries were awesome. Thank you for taking the time to participate in it. I hope everyone learned something from it.

    The winner is……

    Monte!

This shot just kept bringing me back to it. I really loved the colors and dynamic range. Excellent job Monte!

Aww, you're making me blush
The photo was taken with ambient light only. The light from the lighthouse was a cooler color temp than the orange streetlamps nearby which is why it turned bluish when I processed the photo to make the building more white. The light beams were made visible due to the humidity in the air and the overcast sky as a backdrop.

:woot: Grats Monte! Now give us the next challenge so we can sit on it until next weekend! :D

That's what we are all here for man. To help each other out and see what new things we can learn from others that may have done them before. We could even have a challenge no one has done before and all learn something none of us know anything about. lol

Thanks! I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. I wish that damn yield sign wasn't there in the foreground, but oh well.
And hey, I remembered the lens cap for all of these long-ish exposures, which is good :p

    Congrats Monte! Awesome photo, man!
