Yes. As long as your truck has the factory overhead console, it will have the necessary 14 pin plug in place, if so, this mirror will be plug & play. Very simple job, takes but a few minutes.

The new one doesn't have temp, right? To get that you have to order the older one?

Correct...the new mirror with the white display is compass/autodim/Homelink only. For compass temp/autodim/Homelink, your choice is the standard light blue, that's it. Those are still new mirrors; the manufacturer is just not offering them in other display colors.

The 09 model shows it has the option of the mic inside the autodim mirror? Can someone confirm that?

I have seen microphones on the top of the Gentex autodim backup camera mirrors...on 2009 & 2010 models for sure; not sure about 2011's or any newer ones, nor have I seen the microphone on top of any other mirrors other than the backup camera mirror (while there are other mirrors with microphones on top, specifically for the Tacoma the only one I have ever seen also had backup camera display...but this is only my observation; maybe someone else has seen something different).

I just like to say I ordered a mirror from Bob and he sent it right out fast delivery. The only thing was he forgot to send me the Tacoma wiring harness for it. I sent him an email and he apologized for it and sent it right out to me. I rewired today with the new plug real nice set up. Thank you Bob, If I know anyone looking for a mirror I would definitely recommend them getting from you.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Bob (RJP869). Ordered one of his autodim/Homelink/compass/temp mirrors. Just as promised, it came with the 14 pin factory connector installed with wires shrink-wrapped and cut to the perfect length. He is a true professional.

Install was very easy, took about 2 hours to fully install. Mounting and running the temp sensor was very easy and straight forward. I am very particular so I took a little extra time to run the harness along the factory wiring and zip tied it in. You can't even tell it is an aftermarket install.

I am very happy with the new mirror. This is what should come from the factory. I can't believe Toyota put a simple manual dim mirror in a $30K truck.

    Thanks Bob!

Thanks for the kind words - I really appreciate it!!! While I work as an accountant by day, my little mirror business that I started about 15 years ago is what I really enjoy the most. Not that I don't like my day job...I definitely do & have been at it for 15+ years too, but ever since I got my first car, I've always liked to add options to them, and I'm one of these people who like to make add-on's look like they were there from the factory. I'm happy that I found a niche market (who would've thought MIRRORS would be a side business that would've lasted, lol!), one that I can share with others some of the neat things I've learned & hopefully make the process of add-ons vehicles a little simpler.

    Again, thank you!! :)

You should make a thread for selling them on Tacomaworld. Just your own thread where you have product information, prices, installation info, and pictures. I bet it would do pretty well! I know i've really fought with myself, i'd love to have one but i don't really need it right now....

    Hi Bob
I would like to order the complete package with the compass and temperature. I will need the harness for the Tacoma 2014 Limited Edition.
I am located in Canada so I will have to pay extra for shipping.

FYI - I just picked up a TRD sport last week. The guy told me the auto-dimming mirror comes with the Nav Package. For an extra G, I passed on the Nav so I use my phone and dim the mirror the old fashioned way.

I don't have a Tacoma, but lots of mirrors!
    Hey all,

I've had a few people request this in the past & that little light in my head just didn't turn on at the time, lol!:p Some of you wanted a mirror with just autodim & temperature. While that technically does not exist, I have something that might just do the trick. Now before everyone gets too excited...it's NOT for the Homelink mirrors unfortunately :( ...those are still either compass only or compass/temp, sorry about that.

But anyhow...Gentex made an autodim compass/temp mirror a few years ago that would display EITHER compass OR temperature individually. If you wanted the compass display, you press the compass button. If you want temperature, press the temperature button. Cool thing about this is that the mirror stays on the setting you last had it on, so if you set it to temperature, it stays there, so the next time you turn the vehicle on, it will still be displaying temperature.

So...with that said...I am gathering up some nice used ones to keep on hand if anyone would want one instead of the "dual display" compass temp mirrors. They are not available new anymore, so all that I can offer are nice used ones. They will have the regular light blue display, and will still come with the Tacoma wiring, temp sensor & associated wiring & wire cover like all the other mirrors I've been supplying. Kits will cost the same as the other used compass/temp mirror kits, $139 shipped.

    Thanks!

I just installed my new mirror, went in quick and easy, thanks RJP869! Here are some pics. I also have the mirror bracket from ImMrYo and it fits nicely with the mirror.

Sooo, the real question....has anyone added an aftermarket auto-dim mirror to their Taco? If so......what model and was it a simple plug and play? Not interested in temp. or camera...just compass and auto dim.

    Thanks

You said essentially what I would like to say. Your posting is being seen after completing the installation this past Sunday afternoon.

Working with Bob (RJP869) was near painless. The GNTX-455 Autodim Compass Temp Mirror (without Homelink) in a kit for the '14 Tacoma was ordered from Bob's company Bob's Automotive Mirrors & More LLC. As you said, the kit came with everything ready for installation.

The products and the installation do not look aftermarket at all (with one exception). That exception was installing the temp sensor -- with the light falling, I could not figure-out where or how to mount the sensor, so it was zip-tied to the backside of the grill (as in picture). It does not look "bad," but I know it is not quite right either.

Installation notes. I made two holes about the wire size in the firewall's grommet with a "revolving leather punch" that I had -- the sensor wires were a bit tough to get passed through the grommet. When passing the wires though firewall, I used a new blade in a small Exacto to make a small "plus sign" cut in the carpet from the engine compartment side of the grommet's 15mm hole (not wanting to go very deep due to vehicle's wiring on the inside); the wires were pushed in from the engine compartment followed by fishing them out from behind the vehicles wiring (hidden above passengers feet and in front of the glove box which has to be removed). That is where the purple wires running from the new mirror's connector (along the headliner to the right, then down the right hand pillar) and the wires coming from the sensor were joined within the cab using the crimp-type butt connectors (there is no polarity....purple wire from sensor to purple wire from mirror connector, and repeat). The wires were coiled-up and lightly tie-wrapped to the vehicle's wiring harness. The pillar cover comes off by taking out the handle's two 10mm bolts with a 10mm socket...you'll "booger up" the Phillips head if trying to use a screwdriver since they are torqued-down pretty good...I know by trying on the first one. The overhead console comes off by removing the Phillips head screw in the middle of the rear compartment, then pulling down on the front of the console with a bit of force, it will "pop out" from the two spring clips.....don't pull down too far as there are two connectors that need to be removed from the console (for the microphone and the overhead lights' power). I found the white connector taped-down (and taped-down pretty good too) within the headliner between the removed overhead console and windshield. The new mirror's "wire cover", the sliding plastic piece that covers-up the wires from the headliner to the mirror's mount, was found to be too long too -- I had to cut-off about 0.75" from both pieces for it to install properly (I used some flush-cutting diagonal cutters to make a clean cuts in the hard plastic since worried about cutting my finger if using an knife or something else).

Overall, the new mirror looks and works great. Very pleased. Thank you Bob.
