I currently have a 06 Tacoma DC. And about 2 years ago I got the Stage 1 Fabtech lift installed on the truck. To make a long story short the trucks rides like a tank and will rattle your teeth loose on the smallest bumps and dips in the road. It has the original shocks and coils on the front with the 6" spacer ontop of the shock. Do you think the shock is worn out because it is original? Also is there anyway to get rid of that 6" block without spending a fortune on dirtlogic or icon coilovers?

    Any help id appreciate!!!

The spacer is beating you to death and you are probably destroying your axles with a 6" lift w/ a 4x4. Remove the drop bracket and go with some fox, king, or icon coilovers. If you are money tight go with Eibach or 885s springs and some upgraded shocks. There are tons of better options but a 6" lift is a little much. Bounce the front of the truck and if it doesn't level out after a few bounces and keeps moving up and down on one side the shock is blown. You could get a 3" - 4" lift and have an entirely better ride.

Post some pics of the front suspension inside the wheel wells and the front drop bracket.

    Yeah...Ok....whatever.

I agree with Beavis....I have the PC 6" lift with 65K miles, my shocks are shot & she's handling like the OP's. A quality rear spring pack replacement would help your ride also......it would replace the lift blocks/ add-a-leaf.

I will have to try and get a pic tomorrow. Snow outside and I need a good picture in the light. But yes they are original. If I remove the drop bracket then i wasted all that money on the lift. Also the idiot shop that did my lift put nitto trail grapplers (E Rated) tires. Which i have heard beat you to death also.

    Any thoughts?

I would still like to know what I should replace my shocks and coils with if i leave my spacers on the front.

How much is a reaf leaf pack?

This member here >> Scarlett4x4 has done upgrades to his 6" lift to make it ride much better. He can answer all of your questions.

Also there is a 6" lift thread that discusses most of your questions....

Since you have the std lift you can just get the 5100's and replace the front shocks with these. I have e rated tires on my truck and they don't beat me to death. Might want to check your tire pressure and adjust accordingly.

The spacer on a drop bracket doesn't destroy your axles. All it does is make up the difference you are lowering the front with the front drop bracket assy.

These are rated for 80PSI. If I run 40 in them they beat me to death. If I run 25-26 it is still rough ride but manageable...but then i get 8MPG.

If he has only the top hat spacer that comes with the lift no it won't preload the spring.

X2....sounds like time fer sum new spings. Also, the spacer no matter what aint gonna help tired ole spings neither...also, Fabtech stage 1, aints gonna help much. If I were to do Fabtech i would go with the Dirtlogic coilovers and shocks..more dinero but money well spent IMHO.

I have a db lift and ran the std 5100's with the top hat spacer so yes you can do it. This would be the cheapest way but you can also get the longer icon coilovers made for the 6" lift and then won't need to run the top hat spacer.

Ride was great and I even had them set on .85 because I wanted a lil extra lift in front.

I'm not totally sure that will cure the problem. I think he needs to ditch the spacer all together and go with longer coilovers, shock set up. By the way I was at the fillin station in my patrol car when a sweet ass 99 pulled up next to me. I rolled the window down and offered to buy it from the guy. He was real nice about the way he told me to pound sand no way, but I had to try..

Ok so I just get regular 5100 0-2.5" lift shocks?

Yes you can just do that or what I did was I got the longer 5100's for the front of mine for the rcd lift and added a 1/2 top plate spacer on both sides and a 1/4 for the driverside for the taco lean and this way you won't have to run that top hat spacer at all. Just another option for you.

BE5-C477-T1 0-2.5 std length bilstein front shocks

F4-BE5-E122-TO longer bilsten front shock for the rcd lift.
