Yup... Would change the vessel name go Tacomaderp.. But we've got a Coast Guard cutter about 7 miles to the north..

 

I'm sure they'd understand. The coast guard seems to have a sense of humor

 

Meh.. Not really befitting for a licensed captain to be playing with AIS like that.. Think it's frowned upon..

So how did you initially find the name of his boat, I don't see that he mentioned it anywhere?

 

In one of Jake's posts about the website he said F/V Progress, which I'm 99% sure, means fishing vessel Progress.

 

But I mean did you just look on the screen of the app near his approx location and it showed the boat name?
Or was there a search feature to search "progress"?

 

ohh.. I just did a search and it was on the first page. it was the only fishing boat with an american flag, and listed its location as bearing sea.


but you can look on the map and try and locate it(you can click on the boats and it will give the name and some other details). theres a lot more boats than I expected to see haha

 

Pretty cool. I have a multiple monitor setup at home. I'll have to throw the map up on one.
I guess you could even track those wacky whale guys from the tv show or the crab hunter guys.
Think the crab fisherman are pretty much in the bearing strait.
