Just use 4 ratchet straps, you're good to go.

 

Compression springs are rated as a spring rate of lbs/in and OME 886 are 660 lb/in. That means to compress it 1 inch it takes 660 lbs of force, 2 inches is 1320 lbs of force, 3 inches is 1980 lbs of force.

That is a fuck ton of potential energy to load into a part that wants to kill you if it can. Stay safe, use the proper tools.

No way I would use cheap spring compressors or ratchet straps.

 

Haha I was DEFINITELY kidding. Someone posted a video about some guy changing springs on his Razor's shocks, and he used 4 ratchet straps to do it.

I'd like to also reference the video where the random mechanic is just loosening a bolt with a compressed spring and spring shoots off into the parking lot.

I really wish I could afford one of those Tepui tents right now. My fiance loves the idea, but I just can't fit it in the budget right now. I still need to stop by the shop at some point and check them out.

I did my taxes last night. Im getting some money back. so I can cut into savings to buy the tent and put the money back when the refunds comes. The model I want is only like 745. With the discount and picking it up the tent wont be that much. I dont want a giant tent on the roof. To me its just a sleeping space.

How is the heavy lifting going?

 

It's getting loaded on the truck now and heading my way in about an hour. It's got shipping damage so it's taking a little longer to file the paperwork needed before it's even touched by the rigging company.

 

Shipping damage? Hopefully, nothing more than it's first scratch.

 

All cosmetic from what I'm told but parts will need to be replaced from what they tell me. I'll find out how bad in about 45min good thing it's insured
