How do you figure that

 

While I understand that St.Louis' future with the team was discussed in the past, the fact that he was traded immediately after the Olympics and at trade deadline specifically on a year where his team is competitive and successful is odd. It tells of significance. I am certain St.Louis put the pressure on.

For what its worth, people I know who claim to have talked to people in the Vancouver management before said their ownership is wayyyyy too involved in most of the deals Gillis makes, and this is why he has such a long leash apparently. I dunno, could be just bullshit but kind of makes sense
