Anyone know what form of transportation is used to get the vehicles from San Antonio to the dealers after they are built?

I've got the build date (1/28) and the ship date (2/12) on my ordered AC, even have the VIN #.

Chompin at the bit waiting on delivery, I'm in Norcal and feel like a kid waiting for Christmas!

i would be very unhappy if i ordered a $30,000+ truck and someone drove it instead of shipped it to the dealership. <5 miles or im not taking possession of it. ill do the break in, thank you.

My guess would be by truck or train. Mine took 7 days from San Antonio and I live 4hrs away. They didn't drive it as it had less than 7 miles on it.

When I worked for Ford they were delivered by truck transport (hadley), but they were picked up at a distribution center. I believe alot of vehicles come rail, then are disbursed to the dealers from a central location.

ordered 1/20 and have spent way too much time here at TW ever since-

why would i be kidding? the last two new vehicles i bought had 3 and 4 miles on them respectively. if someone DROVE it from san antonio to LA, thats now a used truck. i didnt pay for used.

ok, maybe less than 5 is a little extreme, but less than 10 is perfectly reasonable for a new vehicle.

Yes obviously if they drove from Texas to Cali I would be upset but <5 miles I wouldn't care.

They will train them to a main hub in Cali then move it by truck from there.
Congrats on the truck. I'm sure its been killing you to wait so long.

Mine was finished early I guess. The build sheet said it would be done 2/13, then I was supposed to be shipped to Houston, TX (from Baja) for tube steps and whatever else they have to add/do, then shipped to the dealership here in Austin. It arrived before the dealership opened on 2/15. 11mi on the odo.

They go out by train. They have rail lines at the rear of the factory. I'm actually working at the fire station just next door to the Toyota plant. I could walk over and check on it.. ha ha.
