Well, I guess I will wait and see if it shows up. I thought I read somewhere that you can basically plead not guilty and they will just throw it out. Maybe not... $40 is less than I thought it was though.

No, they won't throw it out. They're really not even worth fighting unless it's not your car or your plate number & some sort of clerical error because you were in Europe at the time of the incident with plane ticket stubs proving that. It may be more now as that was like 10yrs ago and, well, times are tough. :D

If they mail it dont pay it until someone serves you with it in person. Its worth it to save the money and risk the late fee. They dont mail them certified so there is no proof you ever received it.

One of the radar vans got me in Foco a few years ago. It was when I first moved there and I didn't know they had them. Now I spot them well before and haven't gotten another.

I read that on the Boulder website. It said if you don't pay they will have to send an Officer to your door. Seems like a waste of time and resources.

Any of our PD friends want to chime in?

Points or no points it shows up on your driving record which Insurance companies use to rate you. If you were getting a "ticketless" discount before you will be no longer.

Denver county allows you to "nominate" someone else that might have been driving your car. It happened to my wife. Her best friend borrowed her car and got a ticket. She nominated her best friend and they sent her the ticket.

You're under no obligation to nominate......

My old girlfriend got one when I was driving her car. All she had to do was send in a copy of her DL showing a complete lack of facial hair. Nobody paid for that one.

Hint hint.... register the car you drive most in your wife's name and her's in your name. Problem solved

No points means it doesn't show up on your MVR means your insurance company has no way of knowing that it ever happened.

Yeah they talked about it before hand and her friend admitted to it and told her to nominate.
Funny... In speaking with our insurance person the photo ticket I got a couple of years back is the last one to drop off and we can get our "ticketless" discount back.

It's a racket anyway with those discounts but they have a record of it from somewhere.

I'm just going to chime in here...

As I'm new to CO, I don't know what the constitution here says. If you try the 'don't respond' tactic, it may work. In AZ the constitution does say that you have to be served in person. I throw those damn things in the trash....as that's what they are.

Now...about the red light cameras. They don't 'snap a picture'. They take a video. Same thing for the SOB vans on side of the road.

So the cameras are set to run if they detect anything vehicle traveling in the intersection in the red phase direction. If I had to guess the CO laws are similar to AZ and the definition of the intersection is the continuation of the curb line. If any part of your vehicle was in the intersection (as defined by the curb line) it is your responsibility to exit the intersection in the most expeditious route possible. For a vehicle traveling at speed, that means you can proceed through.

Most likely when they review the video they will see that you were beyond the intersection boundary when the light phase changed from yellow to red. I wouldn't sweat it.

Well I'll wait a week or two and see what happens. The fact the it was in Boulder makes it extra special though...

    #middle of no where.

This I have never had one show up on my driving record and I use to get them all the time where I lived down town. And I just ran my MVR for my DO certification renewal.

They go back and look at the footage before they send you a ticket. I've been flashed a few times before and not ever received a ticket

When I lived in Littleton, I saw a truck towing a 25ft+ trailer lock up his brakes to try to avoid the camera, only to slide in to the middle of the intersection and get flashed.

Yep, There's one at Drake and College and also Timberline and E Harmony.

But I didn't get caught by the intersection, I got caught by these bitches:

They have ones in dark blue and also silver. There's certain spots I frequent that they like to hang out at, that's why they're easy to spot most of the time haha.

South side of Prospect between College and Shields. East side of Shields between Prospect and Elizabeth (kind of on campus). South side of Elizabeth by the Taco Bell. And also on south side of Elizabeth between Taft Hill and Overland.

I got this down to a science. I'm always watching...:spy: Can't touch this.

I've also noticed an increasing number of super undercover cops getting people on Elizabeth and also at that construction site by your house. Drove by the other day and one was pulled over and I was like "man he's crazy under cover" and then all of a sudden another person got pulled over by one. I was like DUDE, you be getting a double fine for construction zone. :D

Be sure to look out for the "pre-warning". The tiniest little black and white square sign they put up just before you get to it that says "Photo Radar Ahead"
