So i bought a set of 2.5" S.A.W. Racerunner coilovers from a tw member the other day, no problems just have a small question. They have 400lb Eibach coils mounted but came with the stock 450lb springs also. I have a 4x4 v6, should I run the 400lb springs or the 450lb??? This is my first set of coilovers so I havent a clue, im getting Camburg ucas here in a week or two to go with them on my truck. I had another thought, the coilovers were rebuilt before i bought them would they have been valved for 400lb springs or would i be fine putting the 450lb springs on??

most 2.5 off the shelf coilovers from most of the mfg's come with 650 pound springs. what was the previous owner running these CO's with those soft springs on? as far as the valving, you should ask the PO what he had done.

    :der:

yea you should have 650 as a stock coil on those..450 is gonna be unbelievably soft. and you'll end up cranking the absolute crap out of them to lift the truck at all.

500 should be as light as you go.

but i wouldn't run less then 600 if your planning on a bumper/skids/winch combo.

The PO bought them off of TW, I do not know the original owner. Stormtaco12 is the PO he might be able to shed some light on the original owner. I looked at Stormtaco12s' pictures he had posted after he had bought and re-built the co's. According to the pictures he had them valved for a 2012 reg-cab 2wd 4cyl, so I am assuming I need to re-valve them for heavier springs, and hopefully those other springs I have are more than 450lb so I dont have to buy new springs.

Well I am pretty sure they are the stock springs as they are the right color for the coilovers but they do not have any kind of numbering or marking on them to be able to determine spring rate. I have a press at work with a pressure gauge, so I am going to take them into work tomorrow and figure out the actual spring rate on them. I have no plans of mounting a winch as I plan on going LT in the future, skids are not a priority as I do not wheel/smash offroad, as often or hard, as to need beefed up skids right now bec I am in college and work full time.

As far as valving goes, does anyone have an idea as for where to start??? Because if you guys are right and these are the actual stock springs then all i need to get are two valve stacks for each co right? One for compression and one for rebound on each co...

so i figured out my extra set of coils are not actually the stock springs for the coilovers. they are eibach 450lb springs, im assuming i cannot use these and expect to get full performance from these coilovers. if im assuming correct, would those of you who have the same setup as i want (these or similar coilovers, with camburg or any other 1" uniball UCA on a 1st gen V6 4x4 manual) what spring rate coils are you using, i am thinking of going like in the 600 range +/- 50lbs??? im new to the coilover world and im starting to creep for info on valving, any input or advice is GREATLY appreciated as i do not want to do this wrong and end up spending a ton. Good news is I will probably be selling both sets of Eibach coils, i have a 400lb set (silver) and a 450lb (red) 3" dia 14"length set of coils if anyone wants to get a hold of them ill post pictures and shoot me an offer.
