The single cab 4x4 tacoma was the one I really wanted ever since I was a kid. There wasn't one available with low miles when I was looking (2010) so I ended up getting a really low mile (45k) silver double cab PreRunner TRD, and even though I still drool when I see a single cab driving around town, I will never get rid of my double EVER. I will take it with me to the grave. There really is something about these trucks that transcends any others out there. They are definitely better than the new ones BY FAR. They are simple and easy to maintain.

Sounds strange for someone to say it but I really do own my dream truck.

Glad you chose to get that one!

^yep...but people are hardheaded and talk themselves into "this is my dream truck blah blah".

Not sure about you guys...but I don't consider my Tacoma superior to most trucks...actually, my 2000 Tacoma with 118k has given me more problems (and most costly) than my 1994 Nissan hard body with 155k and a lifter tap for 30k miles! AND my dads 2000 Sonoma with 160k. Almost sorry I bought the Tacoma lol.
Needs new diff breather, axle seals, wheel bearings (what a fucking PITA), brake shoes, drums, driveshaft carrier bearing, skid plate bent (because it's a paper thin POS), scared my rear diff is going to explode being low on oil due to the leaking seals, MAF sensor, and I think the AC compressor just went bad.

Definitely the Dodges are inferior, but would trade it for a Zr2 5 speed v6 ext cab s10 or 4x4 frontier in a heartbeat. Can't see myself owning my Taco for more than a couple years with these horror stories and joke for a frame. Scared it's just going to fold like a paperclip one day. The bed already has a rust hole twice the size my 94 Nissan did...and it's 6 years newer! $10k KBB for a 14 year old truck (mine)...lmao yeah OK.

Thanx to all of the positive guys out there!! Great to see the incuragment and comments. I'm picking her up Sunday.

To the one with all the problems and nocking the tacomas, all the stuff you listed is normal wear and tear items and by the way your talking ether the truck is not properly maintained or beaten and taken off road on a regular bases and yes that will cause rapid wear on all parts. Other then that the truck wasn't looked over properly before buying to see the previous owner beat it and it would need work. I work on these truck every day with over 200k and every owner has nothing but good things to say.

P.s. If you hate them so much why come on here? Sell it and stick with Nissan.

Inspection was over due and he took it for me today to show me it passes with flying colors, the owner of this truck is is awesome and I'm glad I'm buying from a guy like this.

LMFAO!!! wasnt trying to be a dick but there always has to be one debbie downer lol ( no disrespect intended)

ill deff throw some pick on when i get it sunday for sure. as far as the build thread im not sure. I really love the truck the way it is, i like factory equipment so as far as lift tires and wheels go i prob wont do much there. but i am planning on putting factory style running boards on her and the new tonneau roll x cover along with a pop n lock tail gate lock i already have from the 99. also going to install the weather tech floor mats if i can find a good deal on them. i seen a thread on here about a good group deal on them but no one ever got back to me. my all time goal eventually is to install the super charger kit from lc engineering but trying to explain a logical explanation to the wife on that one will take some time to work out lol.

have to get the cabinets, deck and bathroom done first then maybe, just maybe i can pull the trigger but will see.:ballchain: :burnrubber:

check out the links and watch the roll x cover video. seems like the best way to go since i am a mountain biker and need full access to my bed since i ride 3-5 times a year and race.

    1) Weathertec floor mats are a must.
    2) Super charger is bad ass.... gotta make the wife happy though. (I'm about to venture into the married life myself in july :pout:)
    3) Not a tonneau cover guy but that thing is actually pretty cool....to each his own
    4) i would go with some rock sliders rather than running boards ... but again to each his own

Its your truck dude do whatever makes you happy and functions for you!!!

i see you point and trust me i went back and forth a million times with the same thought but i would never buy the 4 door b.c the bed room is very poor, i wouldnt even be able to put my mountain bike in it, extended cab i havent found one under 14k even worth buying due to rust high mileage and poor maintenance. toyota gave me $9,864 for my 99 and i need a lot done to my house so the savings will go to my home and family. i have a mazda 6 so if i need something with more room for say more people ill drive that. this truck is a needle in a hay stack especially here in nj hits the reason there is ppl all over the country willing to drive to buy this truck but the guy is holding it for me :quickdraw:  yes the price is a bit high by about 5-600$ according to kelly blue book but being that he just put brand new tires and a battery in it last month makes up for the money. being a tech and working on these trucks every day i know the value and potential this truck has so even know it might not seem worth it to some people the self worth is what really counts in the end.

ever since i was 16 and started driving my most wanted vehicle was a red single cab pickup 5 speed 4x4 with a bed cover and i have owned everything but that. from a diesel excursion modded to the fullest pushing 800ft/lb trq with 6 inch lift a 36 inch super swampers (oh how i miss that beast) to a mustang gt, but for some reason there has always been that hole and i think its time to fill that void :D

yeah it is a little steep but sometime self worth is worth more then actual worth you know? some ppl would never give this truck the time of day and others like me feel like they struck gold and thats all that really counts. but yes u are right the price is steep but i got a check for almost 10k from the buy back of my 99 from toyota. i payed 3 for my truck and put another 1200 to buy this truck so in the end its only 4,200 out of my own pocket so if you look at it in that seance im stealing the truck like candy from a baby or like a tech at work said " I stepped in shit and came out smelling like roses" WIN!! in my book :p
