After 14 good years and 240k miles in my 2000 TRD 4x4 Tacoma, I just bought a 2014 DCLB TRD Sport 4x4. I craved the off road package and the rear locker but the double cab and long bed were more critical for me.

The ARB seems to be the popular choice for adding a rear locker but I'm wondering if there's any way I can take install the locker from my '00 into my 2014. I doubt the lack of a locker would affect the resale value of that truck much and I would love to stick with the Toyota locker which worked fantastically. I've done a lot of work on the truck over the years but have never opened the rear end so I admit I don't know exactly how the toyota locker works.

    Anyone ever try this?

rear ends are different size and even if it did work...would you really want to put a 14 year old locker in a brand new $30,000 truck

Well, it was worth a try. The high mileage on the old one did occur to me but I'm not sure how much of the rear end I would have to swap.

What was your thinking behind the tundra diff swap? Don't think I've seen that before.
