Rock sliders are just bars that run in the same spot except they are used to protect your truck. Some examples: http://www.bayareametalfab.com/65-Reg-Cab-Sliders_p_29.html

Im a fan of camper tops, or a rack (bias bc i have one). I find that they utilize space a little better than the tonneau covers because its a little bigger volume. Especially bc you have a single cab, you will want to utilize space as efficiently as possible. There are pros and cons to every system though. You just have to figure out whats best for you.

    Some examples:
    http://www.bestop.com/component/products/?view=product&id=55
I race mountain bikes and road bikes too so we prob have some of the same concerns as far as how to store gear and transport the bike. I'm actually in the process of rigging up how i will be transporting my new 1x10 niner!!!

only problem with a cap is i like to put my bike in the bed not on a rack so i would have to take the cap on and off for that and all my hunny do chores i have when i get the truck the cap will be a big pain in the beeep for me. the sliders on the side actually look pretty cool. i really like that rack in the back but i would have no way to lock anything in the bed, everything will have to come out every day. my thinking with the roll x is that i can close my bed and lock it with whatever i want in the bed, and then in about 10 seconds have it unlocked and access to my full bed. more versatile for my situation. Im really into keeping my vehicles looking factory. my mazda is an 04 with 147k on it and everything is still original. we have had a lot of problems in the shop with aftermarket components so i try and steer clear if possible. if i put the rock guards and winch and nice steel rear bumper i will be tempted to go out to the mud holes and hills with the guys from work and this truck is way to nice to beat up till she has 150-200 k then will see lol. i grew up in FL and was at the mud holes every week end so i know from experience what can happen and what i will do to this truck if i go out wheeling. it is exciting talking about it though and once i get the truck my mind might totaly change if i cant contain my inner chilled

Sweet dude!! they were merely suggestions. Use the system that will work for you. TW is a great place to find anything and everything. It is addicting though and it is easy to quickly have a fully custom ride :D:D. Which isnt a bad thing. I thing modifying a vehicle to fit your specific personal needs is a no brainer.

Congratulations!! You sound like you have known exactly what you have wanted for a long time. I just recently sold a GMC Duramax Crew Cab long bed, lifted and chipped etc. I love my new Tacoma and have forgotten about that beast of a truck I used to have... At the end of the day, you have to do what you feel is right for you. Have fun with your new (to you) truck!!

Talked my Nabor into going right after work last night and picked her up. When I say she is in immaculate shape I mean she looks like she still belongs on the showroom floor!! And this guy had my dream play area. 40x40 garage with diesels ripped down and lifts all over the place, sheds with classic cars (all red and in the 50,000 mile area, just amazing seller. So glad I opted to buy from him

I drive 2 1/2 hrs from pa to south jersey about 80 miles at 90-95mph trying to stay with my Nabor and his stupid hopped up diesel and she didn't even make a peap! He left it cold so I could see her fire up in the freezing temp, and showed me around his place.

Best part is I got home and the wife said " WOW THAT IS A BEAUTIFULE TRUCK!!) WIN!! We'll just got to work time to see how crappy all the customer tacomas are compared to mine :D. More to come

I think that's a killer price for a 1st. gen 4x4 regular cab with such low miles. I was going to buy a 2003 4x4 regular cab with 115,000 miles for 11K and it sold before I could get off work to go buy it. I got a 2nd gen because the resale on low-mile 1st gen 4x4s is insane where I live.

You got that right, the resale value on a first gen worth buying is high anywhere be there are only a hand full of nice ones out there. Most ppl trash there cars don't take care or maintain them and run them into the ground.

There was ppl coming from all over the state to buy this one, I was just lucky enough to be the buyer. it's killing me that I can drive it till Tuesday when I get my tags transferred and the truck registered

What tags did you drive it home on? I would think that with a bill of sale / signed title and proof of insurance you would be able to drive it. I thinks that's how it works here. Usually some sort of grace period after purchase to get all the paperwork straight? Might be worth a phone call to local LEO. Hard to have to watch it sit 3 days, especially if you're off work. :notsure:

hahah my exact thoughts but im off tomorrow but will be out enjoying the warm weather on my mountain bike and i work monday then off tuesday when i will be taking her to get all fixed up and legal. but you might be right about the grace period. i drove it home on the tags from the 99 tacoma but there is full coverage insurance on the 04 and and email with documentation. so i think i will be good. Im actually bout to leave to go get some food with the wife and family and im going to take her :D

thanx she was deff a rare find and sorry to make you jealous lol.

so the truck has a 1 or 2 inch spacer in the front and im not sure im liking the way the front sits up. if i put a load in the bed im thinking the nose will then be in the air causing a rough ride and bad handling. also since its a single cab and there a little bumpy of a ride naturally bc of the short wheel base im thinking if i take them out it will have a better feel in the front and less bouncy, what do you guys think, anyone have experience with ride difference with and without the spacer?
