Not sure how. You can make a stripped lower into a rifle or a pistol & you have to be 21 to buy a pistol. Hence the age requirement of 21 to buy a stripped lower. Question #18 on the form 4473. Your shop fucked up.

Likely wrote it up as a rifle.

The "other" category was added in 2007 or 2008.
Nice thing is that the category eliminated the need to have a "pistol" marked lower.... as long as it was written up as "other" is can be built into a pistol or rifle... but even the BATFE is leaving THAT in the open by publishing a statement indicating that a firearm becomes a rifle when fitted with a 16"+ barrel AND a shoulder stock.

I talked about my intentions to build a rifle in the shop, so that may be what it was, but I'm not certain. All I know is that I have since sold said lower and got another one via private sale. My next AR is going to be another custom to me build. Since I built my first AR I am starting to doubt that I will ever buy a complete AR rather than just building it

Regardless of what you discussed doing with it a dealer isn't allowed to do what they did. Not on you though. Personally I think it's silly that they can sell you a Shorty upper by saying 'all NFA laws apply' basically saying it's on you to put it in a pistol lower or a SBR'd lower but they can't sell a stripped lower under the same auspices. But laws don't have to make any sense anymore & they're certainly capitalizing on that these days.

Bought an Apex kit for my M&P 45, as well as some extra power striker springs (for a Glock, but they're supposed to work). I think the guy before me put a 9mm spring in it, because it's about 1/2" shorter than the one I replaced it with. No wonder I was getting light primer strikes!

Apex kit & Glock springs installed! Will run a couple hundred through it this weekend to see what's up with reliability.

Trijicon ACOG TA31-CH arrived today. Got it on the Sig and got it zero'd at 100 yards. Still need to fine tune it on paper for the 200, 300, 400 yard shots, but off to a good start...

Bought Sig Mosquito 4.9" 2 weeks ago. 300 rounds of CCI later and I'm still very pleased. Was looking for the Ruger MK 3 Hunter midlength originally.

By no means am I saying the Mosquito isn't a good gun, but I have heard they can be picky with what you feed them. FYI

Yea it seems that they don't run very well with bulk packs but the hotter stuff seems to work in them. Once you find the ammo it likes just stay with it.

Can finally join in. Haven't bought a gun or ammo for a few years now. But stacey and I went to a gun show this weekend and found a nice little tactical shotgun a hr pardner protector for 170.00 otd including background check.

Yes it's a cheaper gun and yes it Chinese made. But after 100 rounds of 2 3/44 buckshot this afternoon I am pleased. So pleased I call the guy back and bought another for outdoor use with a 28 in barrel. The first one I picked up is an 18 1/2 in barrel. This one will be home defense. So then I started thinking. It has been a while since I modded a gun. I went back and got a stock for it today and forearm. A sling and ordered a heat shield with ghost sites.

All in all a pretty fun gun. Kicks like a mule on rock star but round after round kept pumping them out. Now to get some magnum slugs to keep at home.

Same goes for many semi-auto .22lr
    Copper-washed rounds generally work.
Bare lead like Thunderbolt are best reserved for revolvers and lever action.

HSGI makes awesome products and my belt is now almost exclusively HSGI. I use a Suregrip belt and feel like their one of the best on the market and cheaper than some of the competition and do a better job. The rubberized inside makes so that it really does stay put when you throw it on and you don't have to have it cranked super tight to keep it in place. I also use a Cobra Riggers belt which is a bit more expensive but I think it's worth it. Others are fine with a basic duty belt. For dump pouch I like the Maxpedition Medium Rollypolly because it's cheap and does exactly what it should do well while taking up minimal space. TACO pouches are easily my favorite but I would suggest the single layer ones if you ever plan to do any competitions or anything. Generally real-estate isn't that big of a concern and you'll be able to get plenty of mags on that puppy going single stack. My setup going front to back on the off-hand (left for me) side is three single taco pouches and then two single rifle magazine pouches. I can run 1911 mags, Glock mags, AR15 mags, AR10 mags, AK47 mags... whatever w/o any changes. I love the flexibility of those things. I suggest the single stack ones because otherwise the mags tend to get in the way of each other when you're trying to do higher speed stuff. If you have no intention on doing this then you should be fine. If you think you may it's best to set it up like that now and get used to it. If so, don't fret as you can use those doubles still. You can always throw a Leatherman or a flashlight in them as they tend to sit lower and won't be in the way. Not that you will use on in a competition but again it's good to have them there to know where they are. The DD Tacos are nice for what they are and they're popular but more people I know end up scrapping those for the single version eventually since there's generally plenty of real estate on a battle belt for most anything you could need.

Also, be sure to consider a blowout/bleeder pouch with the typical items in case something does go wrong. Plan for the worst while hoping for the best.

My Ruger MkIII 22/24 Lite eats anything I feed it. Waxed lead (Thunderbolts/Wildcats), copper plated, Hp's, round nose, truncated....And yes, I know you said 'many', not all, semi's. Just sayin'
