    Nice, simple and effective.

I did something similar on my Taco. Instead of the preferred shackles I just installed two usable recovery hooks below the valance. Between the recovery hook and the frame I made a solid steel spacer tall enough that whatever I connected to the hook would clear the valance. The spacer is too tall to use the stock bolts though. The typical recovery hook has a nominal hole spread that mated with the holes in the frame so fitment was a non-issue.

Hmm, I've never noticed them. Been looking at the back of the truck too much!

I wonder if we could move them up a little bit to come out of the opening already in the bumper above the lower valance instead of coming through the lower valance.

The problem you run into going out, up, over, then out again, is added stress on all those points. It can be done with gussets and welding, but it obviously drives the price up. Otherwise if you can cut a piece of 1" flat stock to size and drill a few holes, it's cheap and effective.

I was just trying to see if there was a way to do it with out actually cutting a hole in the bumper.

And there is. More monies of course! At that point I would almost be more inclined to make the front hitch like cbi has. It would be stronger for angled pulls too.

The DXi6501? I've been looking for those, but my stock speakers are good enough for now. So much other stuff to do instead!

Chad, while you have the doors off you should do some sound deadening. It's easy and the ram mat product is a hell of a lot cheaper than dynamat and works well.

Noise reduction and make it sound better because your panels are vibrating because of the speaker.

Like noise reduction from the outside?
