The requested cased version of the 3VP is still in the design phase. At this point, based on other projects, the cased version may be pushed back until early 2014.

We are however working on this and will eventually bring it to market. Sorry for the delays.

All, sorry to report the 3VP-RS is currently sold out - again!

It is possible that they will be restocked around Christmas but, more likely closer to the end of the year.

Apologies to those who missed out.

I love the dash light that I received, don't use it a lot, but when I do, very handy.

I like this idea as well providing light for both the glove box and console.

Will keep an eye peeled and when you have more in stock will order one for both locations.

Stock is somewhat replenished. The holiday season was quite exhausting for us. Thanks to all those who ordered and patiently waited for their custom units to deliver.

Those having placed orders before 1/12/2014, your items have either shipped or will ship on Wednesday. If you do not receive your items by Monday, PLEASE contact us!

Note: Orders with both a V1 / V2W and 3VP lights typically ship separately. 3VPs are made in AZ whereas the V1 and V2W LED lights are manufactured in VA.

Please do not hesitate to PM me or contact Dennis LaFreniere if you have questions or concerns.

was digging through the dark abyss of my center console wondering if flyzeye had released this product yet. was happy to see they finally had and promptly ordered two. these things are cheap, id pay for one, what i paid for two. will be nice to see a more reformed cased version in the future but who cares, the unit is out of sight anyways.

looking forward to the added convenience and know its a solid product if its coming from you guys. will post back here after i install mine. this thread needs a bump and ppl to spread the word! :)

I have a console vault, not sure if it will work with it.

Just waiting for something with a case that is a little more refined OEM looking. In for two when a new design somes out.

We have had reports that the 3VPs are sensitive to being mounted on metal surfaces - apparently, the metal interferes with the magnetic field enough to cause errors. I would caution you against installing in a metal vault.

actually you need it for opening the console vault. The place it would be mounted to is stock oem plastic. There is a gap between the console vault door and the OEM cover.

I volunteer to beta test :)

Thank you for the 3vp-rs-v1 wireless compartment lights guys!

the units are more robust than i thought they would be, very solid. they work GREAT.

The tolerance on the center console lid is very close, it was activating the lamp just by pulling up on the lid while latched... i lucked out and slid the unit over a little on its magnetic base, somehow that seemed to have given it enough room so i'm comfortable it wont activate while the lid is shut.

the glove box was easy but the magnet was sucking the 3vp right off its base! i used a dab of super glue to keep the unit attached to its base permanently, and that fixed it. lots of 'room' for the trigger in this application. Glove box drops a good 1/8" before it activates, which is good knowing the light is out while the door is shut.

i love having these units, they were priced lower than what i would have paid for a such a product, they are built great, and they work great. love being able to see in the dark abyss of my glove box and center console.

Question about the orientation of the magnetic trigger: is it optimal to have the magnet centered over the middle of the of the unit or offset to one side a little? in my glove box where the magnet trigger was offset to the side of the unit it seemed to work better than in the center console where i installed it in behind the lid trip so it was directly over the middle of the unit. but this could have been just because the magnet is exposed on the glove box vs behind the trim in the center console lid...

Great feedback! I will dig deeper into the magnet pulling the unit off its base. The addition of the foam padded backs certainly affects the magnetic flux - I hope this was a singular anomaly.

ALL, the 3VPs are currently completely out of stock. We have the parts but, manufacturing them has us back-logged. Hoping to have another stock built up this week-end. You are welcome to order but, PLEASE know that we are several days behind.

Orders placed between 3/1 and 3/6 have been received and processed. Some units have shipped - others are still in the production phase but, should be completed and tested this week-end. I expect to have them shipped Monday or Tuesday depending on how many additional orders come in.

    Questions?

    Darren,
does it matter where the magnetic trigger is in relation to the 3vp?
centered to the middle of the unit or is it more effective if its offset to one side slightly, or does it even matter...

you mentioned the magnetic foam backing effecting the flux, do you think the center console would have a wider trigger range if i deleted the magnetic foam backing and glued it to the console?

Yes, it matters. The activation magnet should be slightly off axis from center. You can confirm this before mounting.

To clarify, the foam backing itself is not magnetic nor does it affect the activation. The foam backing on the 3VP merely affects the magnetic pull force (flux) with respect to the mounting plate. There are (4) 6.35mm Neodymium Rare-Earth magnets to mount the unit. The foam backing does two things; provides a "soft dock" and protected the back of the PCB.

The activation sensitivity is directly related to the X, Y, and Z distances from the reed switch located on the unit. You should find activation (turning the unit OFF) about 1" (+/-) from the unit. If the activation magnet is placed directly centered over the unit, it does not work as effectively. We have found that the optimal location for the activation magnet is slightly to the left of center when reading the "This Edge Up" text.

When we finally do a cased version, the mounting system may be revised but it will still use the same basic magnetic concept. We hope to be able to offer a retro-fit kit or, design the replacement unit to use the existing 3VP mount plates. For those who already have a 3VP and want to upgrade (when the time comes), we will work with you regarding discounts on a case by case basis. Some of you are very familiar to us and know how we operate.

Awesome info. Exactly what I was trying to figure out. So in my case it's user installation error ;) that has caused my tight tolerance on the center console. I'll correct my installation.
