Yup, he's in hi2 at all times until he clicks the 4wd button, then he's in hi4...

Ah. I see. Why would Toyota change that though? I say leave it a full manual shift option, or fully electric switches. Idk. Could just be my bias since I have the other design

I think they only offer the the high angles for the inners, the outers are 'stock-ish' My failure is in the outers, so i'm not sure going high angle would help me. My inners still seem fine and are not HA.

My CVJ outers came with fewer ribs than stock though. At least I think so. Maybe i'll snap a pic later today.

I'm a bit unhappy with how long they lasted. I had about 10/11 months on them. But then again, I think i would have gotten another 6 months out of the one had i not gone snow-wheeling in the single digit temps. A load of melted snow/turned Ice built up on my LCA surrounding the CV and i'm pretty sure sealed my boots fate.

All-in-all, we pay to play so it's really nothing against CVJ. I was happy with their customer service. FYI, unless somethings changed since i ordered, installing standard booted CV's on lifted trucks voids their warranty and the High angle boots do not come with a warranty. (Can't say it's an unreasonable policy, or they'd be replacing alotta boots!)

And thanks for the links Monte, i'll get something ordered up here now that it's going to finally be warm enough to be in the garage for a few hours.

installed new lower ball joints today! also did an oil change. have you guys ever reused an oil filter? turns out autozone gave me the wrong one and the guy at my rent a stall auto shop said it would be fine to reuse an old one again?

also unhooked my sway bar.. think i need to take it all the way out though cause now im getting a weird noise and i think its from the bar clanking away down there

Most service intervals alternate on oil filter replacement. Most DIYers replace it since they are already underneath the truck and filters are inexpensive. Fine to re-use. I'd suggest to ensure replacement on the next oil change.

And, yes, unless you fab'ed up something to hold the sway bar in place after disconnecting it, you should take it completely off.

Had to get all the rust off the bottom and the existing powdercoat off the top.

Also hit the cb antenna mount I got fo free with the wire brush while I was at it. Also chopped my 60" hi lift just about an inch and a half so it will fit inside the bed.
