Got in the truck last night to run in to town and the low beams don't work. Highs work fine, the rest of the lights appear to work fine too though I'm going to go double check.

There is a 10a fuse for each low beam and both fuses are good. I verified with meter and swapped the fuses out with the known working high beam 10a fuses. High beams continue to work. Not sure where the single point of failure for both low beams would be.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Scott

I would start with a new set of bulbs. Lows can burn out, and the highs will still work.

I've seen both lows blow simultaneously. Weird but it happens.

Ok, I can get some bulbs at lunch time. Just seems incredibly coincidental that they would both go at the same time doesn't it?

Its happened to me, and others. You can use a tester to see if the low bea,s are getting power first, before getting the bulbs. If they are both getting power, then its the bulbs.

They may not have blown out at the same time. One may have blown months ago, and you didn't realize it :( . You could still see while driving at night. When the other one blew, then you'd REALLY notice it  .

    Yep, entirely possible.

And yes, it turned out being blown bulbs on both sides for just the low beams. It seems like I just replaced these bulbs less than 6 months ago. These little suckers are expensive.

You can always put a high capacity capacitor on the bulb connections to avoid voltage spikes that could potentially be damaging the bulbs... really not worth it though

Or retrofit HIDs and projectors ;)

I used to blow bulbs (lows) once ever 6 months. I took it to Toyota and they said they'd have a look for voltage spikes. They found none but I kept blowing them. I ended up getting HIDs the connected through the OEM plugs so I could control Hi/Low but they ran through an inverter and then through the ballast. Haven't blown one yet and it's been 4 years. DDM tuning if you're interested (the 9006 are H4 style (I believe)).
