Its 44" long. I just guessed and made it a bit longer than needed.

It depends on the year. In 2013 I believe its name is R15 but in 2014 it's N25. Still the same connector just a different name.

I've complete my installation and all is well. 2014 Steering Wheel Controls in 2013 DCLB.

    1. Pin 9 on the S8 connector needs to be grounded. I chose to tap into the connection I already created for the Flyzeye design LEDs above the HVAC. I cut the connections and resoldered with the additional wire and put heat shrink tube. The Flyzeye design website will tell you which wire colors are for what years, I'll post here later.

    2. Pin 3 brought this back to Pin 24 on my HU 28Pin R15 connector.

    And I'll confirm here:

    Buttons are illuminated
Left/Right/Return/Home buttons now work - though don't get too excited, more functionality was achieved by just adding Voice Control.... They mostly apply to Audio only. Meh.
Voice Control works (that required no changes)
All other controls continue to work as normal....

I noticed that too. The left right enter and return seem to only be useful in the phone menu. One huge improvement is the volume rocker location and the mute/ pause.

The video will not display gridlines on the monitor. They are "in" the mirror.

This would imply that in a 2014, the grid lines come from the camera.

Or, cannot confirm but I think I read this elsewhere, I don't think there are grid lines on the 2014, even if you had a 2014 camera. Maybe somebody with a 2014 can chime in.

Right, they are useful in the phone menu, and when an iPhone is connected. It does make moving through playlists and tracks, etc, easier. Have not tried iPhone over blue-tooth. Probably similar.

Not much use in Navigation accept for the "return" Silly me, I though one would be able to move the cursor around or stuff like that. It would be nice to be able to move through setup screens and options. Doesn't seem that's possible.

Does move through "stations" in Pandora, something you would have had to touch screen for before. What was lacking it seems, is functionality in OpenTable or MovieTickets - don't use those much, but I have made a reservation a few times with Open Table. Even when stopped these apps, well, suck as far as moving around through the menus.

Voice Control is good though, once you figure out key words and such. Again not so great with Pandora and other entune apps. Like Pandora, you can create a station, but it just gives you a list to choose from, then you have to go to the screen to select. Dumb. But you can create a station while moving something that could not be done without VC.

Overall I'm happy with the swap.

The radio cost me $200 net after I sold my 2013
    The controls were around $100.
Misc parts and pins - $20

$320? Not too bad, considering Toyota wants what $3500 for this as a replacement part? An as an option at purchase time, it was part of an expensive package, right?

Feature I like the most - HD radio, Pandora, iHeart Radio. Navigation is just "OK". I find myself still using my Garmin 3590 - it also has voice control. The Garmin is just a whole lot smoother. And like I said, I have used OpenTable and MovieTickets.

Maybe somebody might be interested in my 2013 controls - the ones Toyota wants $300 for. That would make the swap even cheaper.

I'm not a audiophile, so this is fine for me.

I'm done taking my dash apart, I hope. It seems no matter how hard I tried I always ended up with a few little scratches below the HVAC. I used the hair-dryer method to make them "disappear". If this radio dies, I think I'll have to kill myself before taking dash apart again. I know I won't get warranty service for the radio, so at that point, I think I'd just swap in an aftermarket.

I've run into that before. I just filed the little tab off. The connector still locked in firmly.

Handy cut sheet. Point of clarification. Is the view of the connectors and associated position numbers as viewed from where you insert the terminals into the connector?

The view is from the "front" of the connector, that is the side that plugs into he receptacle. Or NOT the "harness-side".

    So

    1. Front
    2. Locking tab/mechanism "UP"
    3. pins are numbered left to right, top row, then bottom row.

There maybe exceptions, but for all connectors involved in this mod, this is true

OK just wired this all up. What you say is true for the stereo connection. However it isn't for s8, once you look for the vacant positions its pretty clear what goes where. Yogster and fbconvert, you guys rock. Thanks for figuring all of this out.
