I'm trying to decide between 3 Tonneau cover companies. I've only owned my Tacoma for a little over 2 weeks. it's in the shop right now ( low transmission fluid problem, getting new transmission under warranty) , but when I get it back I want to buy one of these.

    1. Bak G2 or Fibermax

    or

    2. Tonno Pro Hard Fold

    or one I discovered here

    3. Fold a Cover

Since I'm new to this, I wanted to get some feedback on which of these brands appear to be the best. I've been impressed with the BAK videos,
but if Fold a Cover or Hard Fold are just as good but at a better price I would like to know.

My Tacoma is a 2013 Black, only had 5700 miles on it when I bought it. V6 TRD Sport package 2WD. Former owner installed the blacked out grill and blacked out emblems. He left off TOYOTA and V6 on the tailgate so I need to get those and plasti-coat them black. Can't find the black coated ones on ebay.

Any advice on these brands or a brand I don't know would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I can speak to 2 of the covers. I had the soft fold version of the tonnopro tonneau which is the same as the hard fold without the aluminum under panels. I currently have the fibermax. I wanted to go to a hard tonneau so I was up in the air between the hard fold, the extang solid fold and the Bak fibermax. I chose the fibermax for the fact that I can use the entire bed at any time on the fly. The others cost you a third of the bed when folded unless you take it off ahead of time (which isn't that difficult a process, just inconvenient). I thoroughly enjoy having the fibermax. Keeps water out pretty good and like I stated before, you have full use of the bed at anytime. The one downside is that you lose the factory bed track system since the tonneau rails use them.

The tonnopro I had did serve me well. The full vinyl cover means no seams running across the cover to have a chance of leakage and you still can use the track system which made me almost pick the tonnopro hard fold. But at the end of the day, the flush look and full bed access put the fibermax over the top.

Thanks. The Fibermax is nice. I'm also seriously considering the Fold-a-Cover. Trying to find out if it's a durable as Fibermax. Looks to possibly be more leak resistant. It's also lockable.

As a owner of a Fold A Cover G4 Elite. I love this thing. Love the fact I can open and lock the front panel without opening the entire tonneau cover. Love the fact I can unlock the rear panel without opening the tailgate. We just went through 2"-4" of heavy rain last week and I had minor to no leaks. Minor leak is because awhile back my rear seal went unglued due to my own hand slipping off the panel and caught the seal by accident and tore it off a little bit near the lock. Other then that, it's been maintenece free for the last 1 1/2 years I had it.

I have a Bak G2 on my taco and love it. Second G2 I've put on a truck. Spendy, but well worth it IMHO

This. I've only had mine for ~3 months but I'm loving it so far for the same reasons. No leaks at all so far (even in the Pacific Northwest). I did have a little water intrusion when I cheated and went through the automated car wash. Turns out that horizontal pressure washer spray directly at the tailgate seal is too much for it but it seems to stand up fine to Mother Nature.

I bought my first truck and tacoma in November. It's a 2013 black trd sport long bed 4wd. I researched bed covers for a month or so (prob overkill). I just received my g4 elite fold a cover today and after a little more than 3 hours of install it's on.
I got this one because of the front and rear locks, you can open it with one hand, tailgate independent, solid, and you can still use the rail system. I live in San Diego so don't care about rain.

Install was okay. They sent me four of the wrong size washers so I had to drill some I had to the right size. Also one of the end pieces to the weather siding broke off in shipping, super glued it so hope it will last.

Other than that so far so good. Should be a pic attached.

I don't like to talk bad about companies a whole lot on forums, but Bak is an exception. Bak products may be high quality, but the customer service is terrible. Sole reason I will never buy a product from them again. They give you the run around and blame you for a mistake that they made. I will not support a company that does this. If they can't even get my order correct, what will happen if I ever need warranty work done?
