So today i switched in and out of 4wd due to driving in and out of a field. Swithcing into 4wd no problem but everytime i switched out into 2wd it made a loud popping noise?

Anyone else have this issue? or is this a normal sound

I tried different methods to ie. at a full stop, wheels turned and straight, and at a slow roll forward and reverse

    Yes
Yes loud noises are " normal " in many circumstances with our trucks along with sloppy CV's that you would consider broken on another truck :/ In all seriousness now that I said that I wonder if that noise is a " rebound " in that sloppy half shaft into the front diff ?

My owners manual literally says loud popping sounds and vibrations while in 4H are normal and shouldn't be a reason for concern.. I still think it's sketchy though

On my first gen it always "pops" out of 4wd when i've been in 4wd, turned (slight bind in the driveline), stopped, then pressed the button to go into 2 hi

Yeah I can understand a pop when you turn your wheel all the way in 4wd but not just coming out of it into 2

Unless you only went straight or turned the exact same amount both ways (if you turned, or if the wheels left dead center) there will always be driveline bind with 1 exception, you're on a very slick surface that let's each wheel spin individually.
