how much fuel do you plan on carrying?

 

i'll figure out more details later

big factor is whether it's a 2 day or 3 day trip...we may not do the whole trail, but we can hit a good chunk of it on an overnighter

 

what about in moab? how much extra fuel should be brought? I know I don't have to tell you since your a manual as well, but fuuuuuuck I wish I got automatic gas mileage haha

 

i think i get great gas mileage given my mods...i average 15-17 normally

 

most trails bring you near town and can fill up when needed

only a few trails that bring fuel into the conversations...lockhart basin, white rim, beef basin, kokopelli, hole in the rock and others that can be multi-day trips

and fuel concerns will vary from truck to truck

 

Yeah for the most part fuel isn't an issue. Every day we hit a gas station before the trail or on the way off the trail so we had a fuel tank at the start of each trail.

If you are doing overnight type things like Bob is planning or you get less than like 10mpg it may be an issue though. I took a fuel can with me last time and never used it.

 

Then I don't know wtf is going on with my 14mpgs

 

I usually carry a 5 gallon tank with me, just wasn't sure if I needed more

 

Heavy foot? Haha. I average 12 mpg around town with my auto but I have a heavy foot around town if I set the cruise for 75 and let it do it's thing I average about 17.

 

should be good with that for most trails...gives you a little cushion

 

I suppose, I never thought I drove fast but I am mostly city miles so I guess thats why its so low. on highway I usually cruise about 70 and get more mileage

That's one of my favorite parts of Moab is getting way up high, pulling out the binoculars, and searching for little tiny dots of vehicles. that's what we were doing last year while we were waiting for you guys doing trifecta at the crack.

 

At the bottome right of that photo, you can see that big turnaround spot on the first switchback. This spot:




That was probably my favorite trail last year.

 

Damn those photos are getting me excited! And 1,2, or 6 night trip I'm down! Put me on that limited list! I'll be heading out Friday the 23rd I think.

 

Lol LROR is down the road from my house. They have a decent amount of stuff for sure

Don't think i have any partners that want to caravan out with me like last year.

Also I'm not sure if I'll have the crawler in by then.
